Oh gosh, I had read about the salty tea in one of the Chapter Stories in my Literature class years ago. I had no idea, it was made like that. Sometimes, I feel little ashamed to not know this lot about my own country. But today I felt enlightened, thank you for sharing.

Well done putting Skyu on the food map of youtube! This was a staple when I spent 4 months in Ladakh, brings me back to those golden days. Love the little sound effects of pouring the liquid or dropping the dough in the gravy. Nice touch!

Great video, have been to Ladakh (Leh, Zanskar, Spiti) and while it was an amazing adventure I didn't have the best food all the time, unfortunately. But you have to live with that in order to be able to experience something amazing. Cool to see Ladakh being put on the map! BTW as a over-salter myself that """pinch""" of salt had me giggling 05:32

Great stuff and if you're interested in more food that's not what is associated as being "typically" Indian then you might want to head over to the North Eastern states. Ladakh is near that starting of the Himalayan Mountains range and the NE states are at the very end of the range.

Since when did Tibet ever become a part of India? Tibet was an independent empire for a quite a some time, sure, and was under control of Mongolian Yuan and Manchu Qing dynasties at some point of its life, but I have never heard of India in Tibet. Perhaps when Sikhs had invaded the region and took ladakh in 1840~ ish but, I don't think India ever meddled with Tibet and vice versa otherwise.

Wish people would come to India and travel to places other than Delhi, Jaipur and Agra because this country is so much more than Taj Mahal, so much to see and so much to do and all the various kinds of foods you can eat! Ladakh is absolutely stunning

Tsampa sounds similar to Estonian kama. I've heard it was a staple food just a few decades ago, like something you'd give kids for breakfast. Not sure it is now. I kinda liked it, it has a nutty flavor due to roasting.
