At the very least, I like that Caiatl respects Saladin's traditions. Sure, his allegiances now officially lie with the Cabal Ascendancy, but she lets him keep the title of Iron Lord and return to the Tower to run Iron Banner for us, even though he's also running it for her Cabal now.

Seeing the Troops' reaction to Saladin's victory (Thunderous cheering, apparently), it may just be that the Valus sacrificed himself for the Cabal, to stop more challenges AND to give old Saladman an "in". After all, it looks like the Cabal Iron Banner started after this happened.

"Caiatl might be running out of core officers at a certain level..." I mean... we did kill a nice chunk of them in Season of the Chosen, so Saladin is just continuing the trend of Guardians thinning her forces, in a sense. I'm starting to wonder where she's getting her soldiers, given the rate we've been cutting them down and those defecting. A Magical Soldier Tree that she shakes, and they just fall out of it? Anyway, I'm kinda of the same mindset as Caiatl on this, in that pushing defectors out is a good thing, as, even without Crow's huge bungle, they probably weren't fans of the coalition to start with. Better to have them defect and leave than to have them stay and sabotage from within, or worse yet, take advantage of the coalition in order to get close to, and potentially assassinate, Vanguard members (as we saw with the initial 'peace treaty' meeting of Zavala and Caiatl). I think in the long run, this'll shake out in our favor.

If Caiatl had any sort of political savvy then she would promote a Psion to her council the second she came on board her ship with Saladin. Also, any military organization worth its salt would promote people up to whatever position us needed. War is a bloody affair and losses are to be expected. Sure, the Ascendancy might have lost some officers, but for all we know, Saladin just purged some absolute morons from positions they really shouldn't have been in. Now there's room for more competent leadership to step up to the plate. I know from my time in the USMC that sometimes there's officers who shouldn't even be in charge of toasting bread in a toaster.

Not quite the same I don’t think. Seeing as cabal still use methods like trial by combat it is unlikely that there were many weak Valum or other cabal in high positions. They were most likely the strongest of the cabal in Caiatl’s ranks which is why Saladin was convinced they’d be weaker. I doubt the US marine positions are decided in trial by combat to the death, which may be where the difference lies. Not that I’m saying it’s a good idea…

Psions would have to be promoted via Rite of Proving to get to the War Council. I don't think Caiatl would circumvent the rules that helped get her into power. Considering Cabal do it in bladed combat amd didn't allow Saladin to use the Light, she probably won't let Psions use their powers, either.. They would have to beat a Cabal in physical combat, something I don't even think they're capable of

Is it ever confirmed or stated that the unseated Valus was actually a Psion? I know Yirix was under his command, but I don't think that in itself means he's a Psion. Lord Saladin is even stated multiple times to be much smaller physically than the Valus, and the Valus chooses to fight with a cleaver more like a Gladiator. Caital doesn't even mention "no Psionic powers" in her rules for the right of proving...if this is a normal Cabal and not a Psion, I don't think we have too much to worry about with Valus Forge's promotion.

Pretty sure he's refering to the psion crow killed, not the valus Saladin fought. A high ranking psion died, leading to Saladin becoming a Bracus. That's what's appearing as a slight in the psions' eyes presumably.

See, the biggest giveaway is that he talks. From what we’ve seen this seasons, psions don’t speak often. At least Caiatl’s psions seem to speak only in psionic thought. I doubt a psion even of the rank of Valus would feel the need to speak, and in such a brutish way no less.

The Psions were free beings who were absorbed by the Cabal. Now these humans come in, kill one of their own, and now appear to have better standing with the Cabal. The slight Psions are feeling should be obvious, and it wouldn't be unreasonable for some Cabal to be sympathetic to the Psions.

Honestly, As much as I would have loved to see another “buddy cop duo” in the Cabal Valus and Saladin, I’m glad his death gave Saladin more purchase in the Cabal ascendancy. Now Saladin has the ability to command fleets and thousands of warriors once again. I can think of no better (or more interesting) character to function as an analogue for a Lord Hood or Shipmaster-type character going forward. Edit: As for the warship defecting, I doubt they are the same. Bungie doesn’t seem like the kind of studio to mix “cruiser” and “frigate” up in the lore (they certainly haven’t in previous games). I am interested to see a more fleshed-out space fleets of Sol breakdown at some point because the cabal have destroyers, frigates, cruisers, carriers, and capital ships. In the future how would allied Eliksni Ketches fall into this hierarchy? What would Hive capital ships (like the mentioned “Tomb Carriers” )look like if we haven’t seen one of those already in TTK? I’ve always thought the City’s space fleets were more rag-tag like the Rebellion of Star Wars. The Cabal definitely have Republic vibes or even that of old-school UNSC ships. While the Eliksni have seemed to focus on a single ship type that functions more like a hit-and-run, warship but a nomadic base of operations in peacetime.

Most eliksni gangs have only lived inside of a skiff (the smaller dropships we see all the time) the ketches are usually the domain of the kells and barons and since there aren't many left, those ships could and should be taken by the house of light , although they would need a lot of new members since they could hardly manage keeping a ketch working with the skeleton crew misraaks has now

But would probably continue to function well in a hit-and-run, diversionary, or rapid response roles to complement allied Cabal fleet tactics. Them dropping out of FTL travel into low atmosphere like they do in public events, and even the “suicide burns” skiffs will do when dropping off combatants is testament to eliksni engineering and training.

One thing to note: The majority of the Last Cities space assests (warships and the like) were under the control of Dead Orbit. And they left the system with New Monarchy after Lakshmi-2's failed coup and the Vex attack, so yeah there's likely not much of that left at this point.

From a gameplay perspective, I think this probably lays the ground work for Darkness wielding Cabal. The Lucent Hive guardians have proved to be a more interesting challenge than just having more champions in everything, and now we have Cabal defectors joining Calus/Yrix. For the Ascendancy, the promotion of Saladin to Valus is still probably a net gain. Caital has forced the remaining "disloyal operatives" to show their hands and now her warriors are being trained by Saladin.

Guardian from the future here! It can be said that she has proven herself to the Cabal, but old ways and habits die hard. Even her father, Calus, used it as a pejorative against her in one of his last open broadcasts to recruit even more defectors for the Shadow Legion. The whole alliance situation, her use of tactics to include tactical retreat and others, instead of rushing headstrong into battle... Caital, in his eyes, has forgotten who she is, but he "remembers what it means to be Cabal!" Unfortunate for Calus, that he forgot that Cabal shouldn't be ruled by fear of failure, which The Witness exploited, leading him to be but a tool to gain access to the Veil once again. Thus, he fell to his fears, and she still stands.

Personally, I think an Iron Lord themed Glaive should be an Atgeir. Apart from the Battleaxe being more suitable as either an exotic sword or a new weapon type, the Atgeir fits the Glaive category due to it being a versatile polearm.

Regarding the ship types: "Cruiser" as a term describes the mission - not class - of the vessel, beyond that it is NOT a Ship of the Line of Battle ("Battleship") which were too bulky and crew-intensive to send on extended missions, and NOT a Destroyer, which is a smaller vessel specifically designed to escort ships of the line and protect them from smaller craft with torpedoes. "Frigate" denotes a fast ship built for extended excursions and as a consequence goes lightly armed, it is properly a type of cruiser.

Another thing this tells us is, well, apparently the axe Saladin gave crow wasn’t HIS axe, but just ONE of the iron battle axes, which makes sense as there are multiple. It would have been a shame for Saladin not to have his iconic (and insanely cool) weapon. Here’s to hoping he gifts us, the Young Wolf, an Iron Lord in our own right, an axe of our own someday.

Don't know if this helps, but it might be a reference (indirectly) to the "cruiser gap" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_1975_ship_reclassification#The_%22cruiser_gap%22). Prior to the 1975 reclassification, frigates were known as cruisers and were known for being heavy ships of the line, outstripped only by cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships. After 1975, frigates were re-designated as fast escorts, as detailed by the following Knox, Perry and (upcoming) Constellation-class frigates. Granted, the article is from a US perspective, but Bungie being a US company and possibly with a naval veteran or afficionado, might help to explain this. TLDR: there's a chance that in this case, they do mean one and the same, indirectly inspired by the reasons above.

one can unlock stasis during new light, befor the new void light mission and complet the void light content as max upgraded stasis user btw that them effect and causes stasis to be both stasis and solar damage after the bounties since stasis damage also counts as solar damage. and also stasis works for progressing solar sub class unlock. this only makes stasis in that scenario preform like that also make stasis grasp to be less intese for the character. that in it self tells us the order of completing missions matters. stasis behaves diffrently if you fully unlock it after the new light is done or if clear it during the new light is still active.

If there are any plans to update his design I imagine they'll save that for story content. Allow it to work as narrative impact rather then just thrown onto a NPC with no build-up.

Byf, what if all the races band together (the Eliksni in the city, the cabal under caital, and savathun’s lucent brood) working towards beating the witness in the final shape, but after this dlc what keeps them other races from turning on us in a heart wrenching brothers-in-arms betrayal and that’s the next story of destiny that continues as bungie said destiny will after the final shape? I’m not sure how Bungie will continue the story but this is a theory
