Good video! Another timesaver is getting two cones of thread and winding a bobbin while you sew.

Super organized! Looks like I need to make my sewing room look more like the garage ;) with the wall hangings for tools

Organization is the key to a speedy sewing process. I'm very jealous of your sewing room! My roommates are very kind to let me put my machines in the living room hahahaha.

Hi Matt, can the Juki 1541 do zig zag stitching? And I saw you have a few different sewing machine, can you do a video talking about the specific of each sewing machines? That be awesome. Cheers!!!

Hi, a video showing off each machine would be a great idea. The Juki1541 only does a straight stitch. The Singer 20U53 (also featured in this video) has a zig zag stitch

Does the Juki work well with sewing just a couple of layers of the lighter fabrics too? I really want to buy one but a lot of what I sew right now is just silnylon tarps and stuff sacks that is just a few layers of light silnylon. But I do want to get into making packs and jackets and try another tent at some point

If you're looking to sew lightweight materials like silnylon, silpoly or anything similar in weight, the Juki 1541 is NOT the machine for you. It is made for medium to extra heavy duty materials only. I've sewn a tarp on this machine once, and it was an absolute disaster in regards to tension. There are a few other options that would be better suited. Juki 8700, 5410, 9010, etc would all be good for the lighter stuff, with the ability to make packs too. Not as good for heavy duty because the machines I listed are all standard foot (drop feed and needle feed). Walking foot machines (1541) are ideal for packs, but will not work for lightweight stuff.

Red Paw Packs thanks for the detailed response! Maybe I’ll start with one of the Juki’s you recommended (as they are a little cheaper too which is nice) and down the road I may end up getting the 1541 as well. Need a bigger workshop before getting 2 full size table machines though.

Well actually I’m seeing a lot of variance on pricing but I’ll be looking into them
