I'm so so excited to let you know that my class "Procreate Dreams Animation & Illustration: Explore the Art of Movement" is finally out!! :) :) I actually sneakily published it last Friday and I'm over the moon to say that it also already got a Staff Pick 😭❤️.
In this class I share with you my newfound love of bringing drawings to life through animation, all while learning all the little intricacies and fun ways that Procreate Dreams allows you to do that. The thing I love most about it is how SIMPLE it can be, even if you've never done animation before, and how exciting it is to use your Apple Pencil like a magic wand and perform animations like moving, breathing and flying!
The things you'll learn in the class are:
- the basics of Procreate Dreams (which is a separate app from Procreate, specifically geared towards animation)
- how to make a ghost and bee interact with each other, breathing and flying about
- little hidden gems like the color magic of the HSB filter
- a bunch of tips and tricks to make animating easier within the app
- how to create cutouts for fun hide-and-seek animation possibilities
- a little piece of interesting animation history: Eadweard Muybridge & the zoopraxiscope
- all three types of animation: keyframing, performing, and frame-by-frame animation
- what parallax animation is and how to apply it
- how to animate a contemplative snowy window
- a simple way to animate a bird's wing flap
- the power of groups & frame-by-frame animation to create a group of birds flying
We'll be drawing, we'll be animating, we'll be creating micro-stories and contemplative moving artworks, all within the app itself. And most of all, you'll be learning everything you need to know about Procreate Dreams so you can come away empowered to create what YOU want to be animating!
I'll also talk to you about where I think the power of art lies, and how it allows us to become explorers of the visual, and with animation, investigators of movement - and how transformative that can be (and has been for me).
