Thanks for being candid about not using the dots. The dots are the bones of the slime. While drawing characters, we don't depict the bones but consider them as structures beneath.

Another way I like to think about the wave animation is, the concave side is a bowl, and the mountainous side is pushing huge amounts of water into it, transferring its energy

THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME TUTORIAL!! i saved this video into 'watch later' like 2 weeks ago, what I was not expecting tho was how absolutely PACKED with so many useful tips it would be! It's like being a beginner artist and watching the first drawing tutorials and it's like your mind opens to so many new things, thats what I felt while watching this video! it completely blew me away and things were explained in a fun way too. you are awesome. Thank you so muchh for making this tutorial, can't wait to apply these methods!

I absolutely love this! Thank you so much! As a motion graphics designer who *barely* gets to do frame animation (and has Dreams on my iPad that I've been just dying to use), quick exercises like this are perfect. For some reason, I have in my head that if I'm not making Ferngully every time I sit down then I might as well not sit.

"From a professional stand point this is still a little bit rough but for this exercise it I think its totally fine." I'm not a professional (not even hobbyist, but someone interested in one day doing some) and I'd love to learn what it could be even better. I mean, beyond the point you made about the energy/force moving the slime.

Good question :) cleanup generally has to look very consistent unless the design calls for wobbles. So my line tapers and small messy artifacts would need to be cleaned up. Also I might consider doing it on ones (at 24fps). I debated talking about frame rate in the video but I thought it might distract.

I really love the way you taught this and i feel confident in my ability to recreate this method to animate slime for the first time on my own pretty well :) i also love that at the end of the last scene u animate when the slime is about to jump off screen the recoil back looks like the slime is looking back and forth before deciding to jump off screen like its trying to be sneaky. It creates a story in my mind for it. Love the way you do your lessons and it really helps me feel confident in learning and perfecting animation so thank you so much. @@AlexGriggAnimation thank u so much for answering u see I consider myself a competent animator but all my works have just been rough so I just wanna make them cleaner but when I try to draw in the lines of my animation the lines start to look very disfigured I'm sorry if this problem Is one which u haven't seen before but I'm just wondering whether I should draw outside of the pixels In the lines cause my program isn't a vector program like flash/animate
@AlexGriggAnimation
@AlexGriggAnimation 10 ай бұрын
@@AjayiDaniel-xu9tj clean up is a special skill for sure. Lots of productions have specific artists that just focus on clean up. But that's a luxury most of us don't have :) a few things to think about, usually new animators miss a step called "tie down". This is where you take the super rough animation and fill in the details and refine the drawing. Then they do a clean up pass afterwards just focusing on line quality. For this people often do key poses clean and make sure they're perfect, then use them as a guide for their in betweens. Typically I find clean up takes 1-2 times longer than the actual animation. That's why I design a lot of my KZbin stuff to look quite rough.

Hi! Mr.Alex (if that's ok to call you that if you don't mind) But really i like your videos so much especially your slime video By the way the dot in the slime was actually so cool although even you saw it rough i honestly saw it amazing and beautiful 😊 It's not a compliment at all it is the truth you did very well because of course from your past experience and working in animation When i knew about your channel for the first time,i knew it from a video you made which is the important three things you must know when you start to learn animation for the first time or even a small beginner, Which honestly i benefitted alot from this video I honestly hoping for more of your videos because i TRULY want to learn animation because I love it and wanting to be an animator I plus did small little animated ones when i was a kid but unfortunately I didn't improve it 😕 Because I didn't have the power to improve (which i was lazy)or even time through my educational studies Which I really don't know if i will be able to animate smoothly and beautifully as like any professional animator would do But hoping if you would make more video courses about how to animate on KZbin, i will be willing to learn from those and able to animate! Plus it is a pleasure and happy and hope you have a good and fun day! 😊
