Only fellow plant lovers will understand how pots can bring us just as much joy as plants themselves! Today I learned a new vocabulary: pedington. Thank you!

I love terra cotta pots also and I'm a big fan of the azalea style ones. They're especially good for cactus and succulents that don't have big root systems and don't need a lot of room.

Great collection of terra cotta! I buy pots wherever I go! I like the small lipped ones made by Deroma of Italy. I'm sort of obsessed with them. Both terrain.com (kinda pricey though) and afloral.com have some really pretty pots. Also there are quite a few pottery crafters on Etsy and check out Carl Mankert on Etsy. His terra cotta pots are beautiful. And thanks for the new addition to my wishlist, peperomia kimnachii.
@mypetitegarden4 жыл бұрын
I love the Deroma ones too!! But they are so pricey! I might pick one or two up one day...one day 😂. Thanks for the recommendation I'll definitely check out the Etsy shops.

@@mypetitegarden If you have an At Home store near you (looks like there is one but it's a bit of a drive from NYC), the often have Deroma pots and have great sales (like half off). They have great pots in general for low prices.

Love these pots! I’ve been trying to get cuter pots for my plants as well. At 7:58 do you have spider mites on those pots? I’m having a problem with mites on my terra-cotta pots lately.
@helloimyukim4 жыл бұрын
Sorry! 7:54?
@mypetitegarden4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you are referring to exactly but no there's no spider mites, are you referring to the soil/perlite residue on the side?
@helloimyukim4 жыл бұрын
mypetitegarden hm around 7:54 on the outer part of the terra-cotta pot where the raised lip is, I thought I saw some white dots moving around on them. I might just be paranoid because I’m dealing with that issue right now! It’s so weird because the mites are hanging out on my terra-cotta but not on the physical plants themselves.
@helloimyukim4 жыл бұрын
Going to DM you a screenshot on Instagram!

Thanks for the inspiration! Green and terracotta go so well together :D Haha, omg that terracotta head looks so cool and creepy at the same time. I just got my hands on a hoya retusa, and it is coming in the mail this week! Yours looks so nice and decorative and I'm really curious how it looks in real life. Do you do anything different with the retusa than your other hoyas? I'm guessing it needs watering a bit more often.

I agree green and terracotta makes such a good pairing. And yes haha that terracotta head can look so creepy at times 😂. Hoya Retusa is such an easy going Hoya, I'm sure you won't have any issues with it. I care for mine like a succulent - lots of light and water when dry.

Love all the different shapes. I think I'm going to have try my hand at transforming some basic terracotta pots... Cache pots, especially large ones, are so expensive here in Belgium, but I hate the colour orange.... Makes plain terracotta a no go for me 🙁

I use regular acrylic paint and then top it off with a clear matte sealant paint. I know some people also use a layer of primer before painting. 🙂

Finding affordable planters is my biggest dilemma. Often time the planters cost more than the plants themselves. I need all white ceramic pots in my white condo and those are very expensive now. I prefer to keep my plants in th eir nursery pots (for ease of moving, soaking and draining.) Anf then I place them in the white pot for display.
@mypetitegarden4 жыл бұрын
So true! The pots definitely often time end up costing more than the plants themselves. 😆
