Holy CATS what a daunting task! Not for the faint of heart. You deserve a medal, my good man.

I did this. But for me, was waaay easier to take the front end completely off. That front access was perfect.

Great video without your video I couldn't have done it, the car is back together and running perfect had to change water pump
@MalikMitch8ll7 жыл бұрын
When you changed the water pump could you omit any of the last steps hes doing. I'm replacing my water pump and already have a brand new timing belt so I want to do as little removal as possible.

Removing the alternator makes life alot easier if you are also replacing the thermostat! And yes once the car is in service position there is plenty of room. Thanks for watching!

Hey Bud hope you get to read this comment. Haven’t gotten your name yet. I have an 02 Passat 1.8t with no compression at all on all 4 cylinder. The cam shaft chain did jump a tooth because tensioner broke. Can’t get it to start. Do you believe the valves are bent? I’ve been following your videos and are made great and good info.thanks

Just thought id say its only a handfull of more steps till the entire front end is taken off giving you lots of room, takes another 10 minutes and makes life so much more easy, i didn't get it completed disconnected, but ive got it to the point that its just laying on the ground flat giving me all the room in the world

better videos than most that ive seen,I have a passat 2.0 petrol 2001,and never see vids covering this model.I suppose its becaues so many vehicles are same(different name) so vids are only made for most popular models,I is happy with my Passat,though they do sting you on tax and insurance,carry on shooting dem vids you have a hungary audience.I know bad spelling its called Laziness!!!

I agree Passats are great cars and understated. I've had my 2002 for 7 years still only 57,000 on the clock and in mint condition

VW has this idea that if they build cars so reliable that they will never break, that they can build them in such a way that they never have to be worked on. Great car for drivers, absolute garbage to work on for mechanics.
