The video of the removal process is edited very well. You get the sense of how many fasteners need to be removed without having to sit through the entire process.

1uz engine has to be one of the easiest engines to work on a timing belt. Lexus/toyota been doing it for a long time now and still going strong. Glad this owner is trying to keep this relic alive.

I think that belt was counterfeit. That would have been a disaster for someone with less experience. Great video as always!! Excellent.

I commited to doing mine today and all the hoses and plugs are brittle. Age really turned this into trading problems. That said, I'm glad videos like yours exist to help the job along.

9:19 The reason the belt did not line up is because the crankshaft line on the belt is actually supposed to go on the underside of the sprocket, there is a little dot on the bottom at TDC. 2nd time doing a timing belt on a 1uz and I reference your video all the time!

Great job Eman! 👍 that lil AirCat seemed to really speed up the job and thanks for sharing the tip about lining the stuff up in order of removal. Problem with me is I've never had a garage 😆 just a driveway and I put all the parts back in car or box. I usually take pictures though. And now make videos so can always look back through footage if stumped

Yea I’m pretty sure the marks didn’t line up only because the belt was backwards lol but you’re right it doesn’t matter at all lol. But I think they referenced them where you’re looking at it not as sitting in it so left cam would have been passenger side. Just for ease of install on inexperienced techs lol if ya got the marks lined up then it don’t matter

Can't see it from video, but usually the belt rotation is marked on the belt also. I would have try'd it other way, but it probably doesn't matter. One Honda engine I did, the belt had no rotation marks, but it try'd to walk off the cam the other way, and not the other so go figure.

No if you put the mark for left camshaft on the left cam than the mark for R cam would be towards crank

Hey, do you recommend changing the crankshaft seal while everything is apart? I know the camshaft seals you should leave alone. But it seems like the crankshaft is right there so it would be easy to replace it. Thanks

This just happened to me doing a timing belt on a toyota v6 , the belt marks didn't line up because the belt was installed backwards . I know it's not necessary but I just removed it and flipped the belt around and all is well again lol

That's really strange the painted timing marks don't line up. I looked up the part (Mitsubishi CD190) and it appears to be the right belt. Very cool video series btw 👍

If the belt is put on with the lettering facing you, the marks would line up. But, it doesn't really matter if all the "pulleys" are properly in place.

Your right, the belt marks would line up if you had put it on with the arrows facing toward the engine. But yes, it doesnt matter.

1995 currently in the process .. you said to do the timing i have rotate until the marks meet again? its a fun one.. taking apart all its components .. mine is extremely dirty. bought it off for 900 and all it needed was this exact job. and the radiator. everything else is good . but also doing the oils. yeah.. its a fun job (no sarcasm) thankful for what you do man.

That way you can have the bolt in the socket and hold the socket upside down if need be and it won't fall out.

Timing belts and chains are a real failure point for lots of engines. It seems like an integrated gear driven component would be a much better way to go.

The belt didn't line up because the crank mark actually goes right under the crank. The line gets lined up with a circle under and then lined up to the hole after it. The timing marks didn't line up because the belt was placed too forward.

13:20 YOU DID IT WRONG! It is required that you say "click" when torqueing fasteners with impact wrenches. Even the drug addicts at the auto body shop know that, come on man.

I absolutely HATE seeing RED rtv 😢 makes it look like such cheap work using red rtv …. So much better looking to use grey. I can’t say it’s worth buying oem Toyota sealant but why do people use the most hideous stuff when working on engines. What’s so hard to use grey lol
