@@MangoHomesWhat do you think about Beverly homes?
@MangoHomes5 ай бұрын
They build a good home! Just by coincidence I've never had someone buy one of their places brand new but I've had a number of folks buy one of their places pre-owned like down in Hagley Estates in Pawleys and they have all been solid, nice homes 😊👍

Thanks for the video. Very helpful info. Do you happen to know when the current building codes went into effect? That will be helpful to know in looking at older homes.
@MangoHomes Жыл бұрын
Good morning Nina! They went into effect in 2021, but that doesn't necessarily mean that every home built for 2021 is about to fall apart lol! When buying an older home a good solid home inspection is key. Most homes have traded hands a couple times by now and have been brought up to code as much as possible, and that discovery process literally is that home inspection. Older or newer, either way you go you're good 🙂👍

What building materials and codes are addressing toxic mold issues if water damage occurs? That foam inside the walls seems like a perfect food source for mold to grow.
@MangoHomes5 ай бұрын
That is an awesome question SoBelle!! Kudos to you for thinking next level 💪😎👍 While the expanding foam insulation kind of grabs/holds any water that leaks in and stops it from spreading sort of like a sponge (thus preventing water damage from spreading and destroying more drywall), there's nothing organic in it for mold to feed on like there would be if there was wet wood or cloth or something like that. Water held in that foam won't grow mold just like if it were held in a steel pail or porcelain sink. And the only reason I know this is for the research I did for the exact video you watched because if not for a builder mentioning that to me I would have never known 🤣👍

I lost everything I owned (and I mean everything including my golden retriever and cat) to toxic black mold that was hidden inside the walls of my San Diego home. The seller did not disclose the water damage or the mold. It took me over 400 IV’s plus lots of education so this would never happen to me again. It’s now a survival, life or death skill, for me. Thank you for responding. I am seriously considering a move to SC so I hope to connect with you.

do the counties/areas have these codes.
@MangoHomes9 ай бұрын
Good question! Those building codes are consistent across all of coastal South Carolina. Every builder has their own way to engineer it, all of which are reviewed by architects and approved by the local county(s)...but yes they all by code have to build a house that can stand up to a category 5 hell storm 🙂👍
