Hi, can you tell me how to decode a dometic water heater wh-6gea serial number? Which digits are the year and which indicate the month? I've looked everywhere in the manual
@MyRVWorks Жыл бұрын
This is true of suburban serial numbers I don't know if it applies to dometic, the first two digits are the year the second two digits are the week. So you can try to see if that fits with that serial number.
@Lisaamyshook Жыл бұрын
@@MyRVWorks Thank you, you mentioned Suburban did Domectic buy them too and use their design for their new line? I know they bought Atwood, moved away from the rectangle shape

like your videos a lot I have a 2001 forest river model #T23-FBLT travel trailer I'm trying to locate the bypass valve for the water heater. I have not been able to locate a access door anywhere.

We are running into that with our new camper, 2022 Micro Minnie, and the WH. Been doing some troubleshooting with it as it hasnt run right since the beginning, June of this year. It ran for 38 minutes the other day, water temp was 165 degrees when it finally shut off. Ran with door to the WH open as it seems starved for air with door closed. On and off, on and off and clicking. Tested solenoids on gas valve an they tested out at 19 ohms, which was within range according to Dometic. This model seems to be plagued with issues…WH-6GEA.

Sounds like low propane pressure, do the operating pressure test & make sure you have 11""WC to start Maybe partially clogged burn tube or orafice? Watch his other videos, or call a technician

@@thehomewizard1 thanks Paul….we did a pressure test, 11”WC. Tube is clear. Working with our dealer to get resolved. They are being great but this problem is a real pain.

I really enjoy your videos and your insights on repairs. I have been watching you for awhile now, and I have learned plenty from you. Thank you for that. As I am retired now, in January, I am going to Texas for schooling. To become a part-time RV mechanic. That way I can work every now and then to help other RVers, and stay out of my DW's hair. I have taken notes on your professionalism in your work. I have always tried to make my work look professional as well. So thank you very much for the tip to just start reading all of the manuals that I can.

I have a 13 year old Atwood 6 gal propane and 110 combo unit in my RV. It will fire up with a nice blue flame on propane and propane flow has good force but will not heat any water. I've purged the air from the tank, replaced thermal fuse, replaced eco and Tstat, checked small 2 amp fuse on the front and all fuses in the coach, and cleaned orifices as best as possible.. what could be the non heating issue and what should I look for next? It fires and ignites fine but will not go any further. I replaced the board with the Dinosaur UIB64, still no heated water from faucets.

I'm wondering if the valves on the back of the water heater or oriented into a bypass mode. That means that your water heater might be doing everything right but if the valves are bypassing the water heater it's never making it to the RV fixtures.
@patriotpreppermama2 жыл бұрын
@@MyRVWorks thank you. Sorry for being a pest. I've worked on that thing for 2 days. I am at my wits end I was really hoping that a new board would fix things. I bought the rv used and have never had hot water.

Breaking into propane is a very serious operation. Silicone the grommet , soap the connections and do a drop pressure leak test as well. Leaks can be dangerous, but can be taken care of by many owners. The rest is just like Darren said read the manual.

I agree. Read the manuals. Especially with all the electronic variations. At least keep the printed material somewhere safe.

Another good helpful video for people 😊 Do U have a video showing the relay and wiring hook up for the electric heating element? Mine stopped and when I pulled the plastic cover off the back of the heater the connections were all burnt up. Would be nice to hear your thoughts and explaining that side of the water heater since U are so informative on items. Thanks again for all the videos.

Sorry they want a new water heater if they have little kids I’m an RV tech and the new dometic design to get more hot water the thermostat doesn’t work right in my opinion Getting 160 deg water at the faucets with 140 deg t stat. They say that’s acceptable They being dometic Mix cold with hot is their answer Spent way too much time doing their building the air pocket and trying to make it work the way I thought it should. 140 deg water The point where the T stat contact’s doesn’t get to 140 till water is 160 on some. We had a few act like this. This wouldn’t be fine if they would just sell different t stats that had appropriate faucet temperatures listed and you could choose. They changed their design. I think there is something wrong with it or manufactured incorrectly. I have only seen the issue on the 6 gallon model. I think the easy fix is a different t stat. They just say mix cold in at faucet. Some kid will get scalded and then the price of these will go up and a Truma will be cheaper as they pay the legal fees
