For anyone in Florida during hurricane season, just a thought for you that if ones coming you can fill all your tanks and ad a considerable amount of weight to your camper in order to ride out the high winds. This is mostly for us who live here and store our rigs here but if your caught unawares you can add a lot of weight with full tanks.

2 words- reverse osmosis. We installed it on our rig. We used to carry around cases of drinking water but now we just filter water from either fresh tank or city hook up. Life changer! I ran the water used to flush the filter back to our fresh tank so we don't end up wasting it. It will literally filter salt out of sea water.

@@HappilyEverHanks Our rig sat for an unknown time so we are just figuring things out!! These kind of videos help us newbies to remember to do things. Heading down to the lake tomorrow just for Sunday and Monday (hard to get a site at the state park). A little work on the trailer pad (culvert and finish wall) the rest of the time to work on the rig. Sanitizing is one of the chores. Trying to get the pad ready for use by mid June. You guys ever need a place to stay let me know. I won't post the exact location here but it's on Smith Mountain Lake. 100% boondocking this year but i will be adding power, water and hopefully even a drain field. I am considering opening it up to boondockers welcome in the future. We had planned to build next year but with Lumber up 300% and not sure what's going to happen also, with interest rates likely to rise we most likely are going to hold off for now. Not much to do in the area if your not a boater but, it is in my opinion, the prettiest lake in Virginia.

As an introduction, we bought a 5th wheel 25 years ago, but sold it due to both of us working full time and no time to use it. We're kind of out of your demographic but doesn't matter to us, as long as you love RV's. Can't help our age, it's the fault of the birth date printed on our driver's license. Keep having fun!

@@HappilyEverHanks well a great weekend but I do have a question. So my tpms moniters show the fifth wheel tires going up about 7 psi while driving. Do you inflate to 80 cold and they go up to 87? Or keep at like 77 and go to about 84? Just not sure. We are so glad you guys do your channel have learned alot and have fun doing it too.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
@@scottsmith922 that’s so awesome to hear Scott!! So glad that y’all had a wonderful weekend 🙂 On the sidewalk of the tires there should be a psi mark labeled “max cold inflation pressure” or something of that nature. We keep our tires at the max pressure recommended by the manufacturer of the tire. So every morning, before driving an inch, I will measure the cold tire inflation and make adjustments as needed. The manufacturer of the tire takes into account the inflation of the tire while driving. Make adjustments while they are cold and you are good to go 🙂🙌🏼

That’s so awesome to hear Rusty!! We have to agree, it has been an absolute must have for us 😀🙌🏼
@DCBA1234.2 жыл бұрын
1 suggestion if I may. Starting at water spiket, you hookup your water filter first, then your waterhose, then your pressure regulator, then the camper. Reason for this is, those minerals and junk that's in "city" water can and will degrade the internals of the pressure regulator. Putting the regulator after the water filter helps cut down on that and extends the life of the regulator a lot longer. Get a pressure regulator that is solid brass no steal unless it's pure stainless steel or else it'll rust or break down.

The blue filter will have 5-7 psi pressure drop. You want the most pressure you can safely have in the trailer. If you put the regulator at faucet and filter at the trailer, you will have max safe pressure minus 5-7 psi. So, put filter at the faucet and regulator at the trailer inlet to get max safe pressure. ALSO, we carry a spray bottle of chlorox and spray the campsite water faucet when we arrive, because the guy that just left had his sewer hose over that faucet trying to clean it out.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jim! This is great to know, we will start doing this (love having the max pressure possible) Also the chlorox spray is on point. Now that we think of it, I wonder how many times we have pulled up to a site that was just used by the sewer hose 😟 You have such great tips Jim! How ya'll doing over in ALA? Any upcoming trips?

Good info and thanks for it....and by “good” I mean you put a wonderment into my head. Next Wed we head off for our first really big trip (to western NC - Asheville, where my son and his family live and where you two visited not long ago, yeah?). Anyway, we’ll be dry camping two nights down and two nights back. First time using on board H 2 O. How in heck do you know when the on-board tank is full? Can it be as simple as setting the Nautilus valves to fill it and opening a faucet inside to wait until water comes out? I would think you’d have to be set for dry camping for that to happen. Other than letting the water come out the over-fill, how does one know the on-board tank is full? Your insights will be welcome and helpful. Thanks in advance - from Chris and Kathy.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Chris and Kathy!! It's so great to hear from both of you 😃👋🏼We are SO excited to hear that ya'll are heading to Asheville!! Yes, we visited there and loved it! So the best way I can put it is...you will be camping in a new camper right? If so, I would imagine you wouldn't have much "gunk and junk" built up on your internal sensors in the tanks. Therefore, you should be able to rely pretty well on the control board panel that shows the levels of water within in the tanks. Take this with a grain of salt however, because eventually this water will start to build that "nastiness" over the sensors and they won't be as reliable (you shouldn't have to worry about this for awhile). When this does happen, you will probably be well aware of how long it takes to fill up your tanks and just know by "feeling it". It seems weird, but you will understand lol The fresh water holding tank can only be filled via an outside water source (hose from the spigot). Just to clarify...what you mentioned above with "opening a faucet inside until water comes out" would only fill up your grey tanks. The water that drains from the faucets goes directly into the grey tanks. Grey tanks are a collection of dirty water. Note that the fresh water holding tank is separate from the grey tank(s). I apologize if any of this information is redundant and you already know all of this. If you need more clarification just let us know! Hopefully this doesn't make it more confusing to you. Also, if you haven't already..consider checking out our "black tank video" because we go into a ton of depth on the grey and black tanks. Might help to cement it all in. Best to you Chris and Kathy! - Kyle and Renee 🙂

Very first thing is to find out if the water is potable!!! Some campsites do NOT have potable water. I always ask before I fill my tank. Some places have terrible tasting water. I check of before I fill with it. If it tastes awful I don't let it into my tank. Water near oil fields often tastes bad from the high sulphur content in the ground. So check the water out. I agree with not lugging a full tank of water around, unless you are boondocking! Our first far away from home trip with our trailer, and I had read about not traveling with water and just filling up at the campsite or closer to it. The campsite website said they had water, but when we got there there was no water to be had and we ended up literally dry camping the whole week. Luckily we had bottled water. But now we always fill up before leaving home because you just don't know when you will be able to get more water!

Very informative video especially since I’ll be picking up my newer Grand Design this week. One thing thought and it’s important: The Zero G hoses are great to pack. However they do no drain completely when they lose pressure and some water is trapped inside without a way to dry out. In short order those hoses are black inside. That’s a fact. Even if you don’t drink the water that black can’t be good. I saw this on another KZbin channel so it’s not my original thought. I cut a section of my Zero G in the middle and then cut that piece lengthwise. It was disgusting inside. Needless to say I’m never using that type of hose again. I hate my old school (white with blue stripe) hoses but I make sure they are empty and never screw then together when storing.mI checked an old one I just pitched because I drove over the end by mistake LOL. Perfectly clean inside

I really enjoy watching your videos! Carl reminds me a lot of our youngest son. (That's a good thing Carl!) After reading some of the comments about reverse osmosis I have a couple thoughts. It is a bit expensive initially and depending on volume of water treated the filter cost can add up. We change ours annually, but could probably go longer. I would recommend installing it at point of use such as under the kitchen sink so as to have a dedicated faucet to dispense and not run all your water usage through. Most systems offer this smaller drinking water faucet with it. It's easy to install using 1/4" pex hose. However, for those with the wallet or the need, it is truly clean water. We have a system for our home because of high arsenic levels in the well ground water. Buying loads of bottled water just seems like a lot of needless plastic waste for recycling. Keep the vid's coming!
