Transitional Vignettes - Decorating Tips

Great tips. Vignettes are my favorite way to decorate. I love to make the slight seasonal changes and get the most enjoyment from these little places of interest around the house. I have noticed that people like to look at them as well. Enjoyed!

I like to use stacks of vintage plates as risers in my vignettes. A tea cup set on top is very pretty. I'm also using green Depression glass saucers under some pottery with a doily between for cushioning. I have a couple of small stacks of books where I removed the covers, added a doily on top, and tied with twine. They look lovely with a bird perched on top of the stacks. (I used paperback books that had no value). Silk greenery in a medium height pottery vase is nice in the Spring.

I like to add vintage toys to my vignette in the family room. Right now my son's toy sail boat is part of my summer mantel- it's over 25 years old and I've held onto it all this time. When a grand child comes along I guess I'll have to pass it on, but until then it's mine to use and enjoy!

Well I love small, pretty things, my sons call me 'magpie', so I love doing vignettes. I'd love to know how you edit your collection because it's very hard for me to get rid of things that "might look great on that table or this table, etc etc

I'd say 2 a room or a small to mid sized room. A large room 3 would work.

Is your sofa an Antique or new? I am having the hardest time finding a sofa. I am in Canada as well, we don’t have the options you guys have. Although, I would import one if I found something great.
