As a spiritist its disappointing to not see more study and explanation into the doctrine itself. If you read the actual books you can see the beauty in the teachings of love and charity. Mediumship and phenomena are only a small part of the doctrine. Many mediums were wrongly accused as fakes or frauds. Why? The same problem as today, power. The government or hierarchy of the time saw that absolute power would be lost if the belief in a higher power took over.

You can find plenty of books and explanations in Portuguese and even from Portuguese to English. Spiritism is really strong in Brazil. I suggest you to search for a guy called “Chico Xavier” we even have movies explaining. You’ll love it

your observation could extend to numerous religions, including Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism... Democratic nations typically uphold religious freedom, as exemplified by the stance of governments like France, which do not impose bans on religion. While there are exceptions such as China and North Korea, most countries worldwide allow religious practice. Therefore your argument doesn't really make sense. If the government felt threatened by religion, why has it not banned it?

It is interesting that Kardec became passionate about it around 50 years old. that is a real turning point between being young and getting old. I read that Jim Morrison's is the most visited grave in Pere Lachaise.

I've seen many spirits in my lifetime. It's great you aren't closed off to the idea of the possibility of spirits. To me it seems like you already know or have felt them, you just haven't properly been able to identify how they're communicating. I highly suggest kardec's books as he helps to guide people in the right direction. For example one common belief is that when you sleep, your mind becomes succeptible to energies like an antenna. Everyone is born with their spirits whether that be ancestors or sprit guides that chose you. Once you are asleep these protector spirits stand by your bedside to shield you from any negative energies than can enter into your vulnerable state of mind. Which is why sleep paralysis is was once believed to be negative energies affecting you while you sleep or even touching you inappropriately. Another important thing to pay attention to is your dreams because your spirits can be giving you messages. I've experienced an instance where one of my family members almost died days after i had an unexplainable dream where she came up to me screaming for help and in terror. My eyes rolled to the back of my head and I saw images to which I cannot say. I also woke with a nose bleed. I know this seems improbable but the more you research preferably through trusted sources like kardec and if it's possible local spiritists. You can learn alot about the immaterial world.

As a former Kardecist from Brazil, and still having a Spiritist book collection, I must say that I always find it interesting when people from abroad discover something about Brazilian underground culture (Spiritism might not have originated in Brazil, but Umbanda did). If you people have any serious, respectful questions about Spiritism and Umbanda, you can ask me. I am not a practicioner anymore, but I did attend to the saturday meetings, where we learned about the Spiritist Doctrine.

@@CharlieZelenoff-gf3vj I used to be part of a Brazilian African religion called Umbanda. While I did not develop my mediumship (and having seen a lot of "marmotagem", which means fake mediumship, I grew skeptical of it), I did talk very often with spiritual guides that were incorporated into a medium's body. Mind you that Umbanda is all about compassion and charity, that's the whole basis of the faith, which was founded in the early 20th century by Zélio Fernandino de Moraes. During giras, which are Umbandist rituals to call the spirits in order to perform healing and advisement, I often talked with spiritual guardians such as Eshus, Pombojiras, Zé Pelintra, Pretos Velhos, Baianos, Caboclos and many others. Umbanda is vast and a very interesting path, and while I don't believe in the things I used to, I still respect it for being what brought me out my worst days and accepting me as I am, while still encouraging me to become a better person.

Can anyone help me to understand a little about a kind of person I encounter. She was said to be someone who can call spirits of the dead and the dead will possess her and speak for them. Then others can talk to their relatives through her. What kind of practice is this and how does one acquire that and how much of the spiritual world have this kind of person have entered already?
@uriahpeep9008
@uriahpeep9008 Жыл бұрын
This person is called a spirit channeler who can materialize the voice of the spirit as it speaks through the medium. No one can explain "how" this practice is acquired other than by sitting at seance sessions and finding they can perform these acts after a time of practice and learning. It would on be a conjecture even for a medium to say "how much of the spirit world had been entered". The more general answer to this is......the spirit world is ALL around us.......in other words, the various spiritual worlds are physically in the same place BUT are separated by the vibration associated with each domain. During each seance session, the medium must go through a period of adjusting to the mental vibration to "match" that of the spirit world. As you may guess, this practice lends itself to all kinds of fraudulent "mediums" who have no power but pretend to have to extort money from their clients. That is why the practice fell from public interest in the second half of the 20th century.

@Chango46
@Chango46 Жыл бұрын
Well when it comes to the Bible. Yes people will believe in anything 😂. Spiritism is absolutely not an "esoteric form of reality " everyone has the capability for mediumship. It just comes down to one being interested, and having the right mentored to help you develop your mediumship properly or you will find many self proclaimed practitioners which are unfortunately found in all religions. Things like developing mediumship do not happen overnight. Just cause it is not culturally accepted in some areas does not mean it's esoteric. Alot of it comes down to your families belief system and how much you were exposed to as a child. I grew up in a religious cuban household. For me to have seen spirits at the age of 6-7 before my grandma's passing, and now to have been apart of many spiritual investigations (misa), it's actually interesting to see how resistant people are to change. I haven't heard anyone claim that only certain people can be spiritists, but I have heard that only certain people end up becoming great spiritists because of dedication, great mentorship and never being close minded. All it takes is one ceremony for someone's entire perspective to change. Once you experience first hand one of your dead relatives pass through the body of a medium that you have never met before, their voice changes, eyes change (not color), body language. I experienced this with my grandmother RIP and she spoke us giving us each advice and warnings. I'm thankful to have found my path to be practicing in my relgion of orisha and also Spiritism. Blessings to all.

Spiritism is not the same as Spiritualism. It's a very specific form of Spiritualism, an outgrowth from this French investigator. Though he would define it more generally and Kardec himself would probably call many forms of spiritualism, spiritism.

He is the author of the five books known as the Spiritist Codification, and the founder of Spiritism. He was a sensation during his time - these are all historical facts. It’s a part of history that explores people who explored the supernatural. If you’re not interested in the pop culture of the time - fair enough. Doesn’t mean it’s nonsense.
