This video is amazing. Too many people ignore the sound design in Hyrule, even though birds are cool! I watched it a few months ago, but forgot to leave a comment. I'm glad I remembered to return!

By using a headset the bird calls are directional, so you can hunt them for food. they are not easy to find or sneak up on.

I’ve been googling the “woo-hoo” sound because it’s been driving me crazy. Some people have said they think it means a korok seed is nearby. I’ve also looked into different bird sounds and I think it sounds more like a cuckoo bird instead of an owl. I’m not still not entirely sure but it’s a little closer to the sound.
@KikiBethSays3 жыл бұрын
haha yes I’ve enjoyed seeing the urban legends that have come out of these sounds, they’re definitely random though. Based only on the region type and time of day. For “WooHoo”, wood owls / ural owl is still my best bet, but certainly not confirmed. However there are also cuckoo birds in the game! I didn’t include them here because I couldn’t find them in game while I was making the recordings for whatever reason, but there’s definitely a resemblance there.

Grandfather had a trailer in the mountains of Virginia. Whip-poor-wills where super common there and very loud. Definitely not a sound you forget. The first time I heard it in Breath of the Wild I just stopped and stood there listening reminded of 30 some years ago and being up at my grandparents trailer in the middle of nowhere Virginia. Was amazing thing and along with these other sounds just really shows how good a job Nintendo did with their ambient sounds with this game.

I"m a bird watcher and I've been watching Breath of the WIld streams. I was surprised to hear some real birds popping up every now and then. Some you haven't mentioned in your video include Black-capped Chickadee/Carolina Chickadees, and Chipping Sparrows/Worm-eating Warblers. These birds are all songbirds and sound similar to each other. The chickadees especially are very common around Hyrule and I've heard them a ton. I only recently heard the Chipping Sparrows/Worm-eating Warblers when the streamer visited Lake Komolo.

Hello, I never played breath of the wild in my life, because I have a PC. But I am playing rdr2 and I hear some whistles in Tumbleweed while I was searching for rats. This sound is stuck in my head. I thought that was a coyote 🐺. But I listened carefully and, tbh, it does sound like a coyote. But it DEFINITELY isn't a coyote. I then thought that it was a man calling a dog, but, despite being near the civilization, it wasn't. I was so close to one skunk, and idk if he's making that noise all the time. This reminds me of a day when I heard another strange sound in Caliga Hall. That was actually a sound of a red chested cuckoo, but idk if it is just a background noise, or is coming from an animal. Can someone tell me where are the sounds coming from?

Isn't the 'unknown beach parrot' more of a goose/swan type of bird cry? I don't know, but it just sounds similar to the sounds I've heard from when geese/swans take off from the water because a predator spooked them. The alarm call to the other of those birds that might be around.

Ooh great question, this one is almost certainly a type of dove/pigeon, the sound source is called "Canyon Dove" and the raw sound definitely has a subtle trill/coo-like quality. Uncertain on the species since there is none I can find called canyon dove, but my best guess is it could be a Mourning Dove. However that's also just the dove sound I'm most familiar with as they're very common, and often mistaken for an owl sound.
@BryanTheEngineer2 жыл бұрын
@@KikiBethSays The Mourning Dove is iconic. I've been looking into the different species of doves to try and find a similar recording, but apparently there are over 300 so I think I'll be happy with just knowing that it is a dove, at least for now. If I ever find the exact species I'll let you know. Thanks!
