The crystals are made of plaster, or Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate, to be precise. It’s a mixture of Chalk, Sulfur and Water. The Growth of crystals this size must take a incredible amount of time. It’s beautiful.

I'm glad you added that bit of information. I first heard of this place on a BBC Science show titled 'How Earth Made Us', about geology presented by Professor Ian Stewart. Apparently, this cave was found in 2000 by mining brothers of the Naica Mine at a depth of 300 metres. and it had to be drained of water. When not flooded, the cave is extremely hot, with air temperatures reaching up to 58 °C with 90 to 99 percent humidity. This is comparable to temperature records in Death Valley, but with much wetter air. The cave is relatively unexplored because of these factors. Without proper protection, people can only endure approximately ten minutes of exposure at a time.
