Tony, there’s another Anvil Rock in the Heath Springs/Stonesboro area. Right on the side of the road, it’s not hard to find if you know what road to take. I think it’s on Stonesboro Rd.

That is one odd rock Tony. I really like the town. And I could spend hours in the hardware store. It like time stood still. Thanks for sharing Tony!

Tony, good documentary. Have you ever stop by the Tea Tables in Newberry county? You can google it and see the story behind them. Like Anvil Rock it is just big granite rocks in the woods. But history is that British Tarleton camped there going to Cowpens. We would climb them as high school kids. Once they logged the woods and could see them from I-26. Archway on side of Old Whitmire Hwy is a place you can pull over and park, or could park 50 years ago. 😊👍

Never heard of them but I will Google and see if it's something I can use. Thanks for watching 😊

It looks to be the same or similar stone used for grave markers at the cemetery you walked us through.

Wow cool find. I've been thru Ridgeway a lot of times I really enjoyed this video. When the train was going by I kept watching to see the rock move. If it had I would have dropped my tablet. Stay safe

I remember this rock and going there as a child in the 60's . I lived with my grandparents back in 60's and they lived not far from it. My aunt took pictures of my cousins and I around the rock. Will ask her for a copy and post so you can see what it looked back then.I am showing this video to my husband .I once had him stop at the old cemetery and told him there was a huge rock nearby in the woods. I think he thought I was crazy. I wonder with what memory I have of going there if its possible I could locate it . Wonder if the property is posted no trespassing. I shall see since i am an adventuress and love South Carolina history.

You need to look at the top of it. Missionaries craved their names on top and where they were from. Late 1800s

There's another huge anvil like rock in Van Wyck (Lancaster County) on the side of Hwy. 75. It's awesome! It has a legend (of course) that if a rooster sits on top and lays an egg, the rock will spin around....hence the name Rooster Rock. Ha.Ha. It's def worth checking out. You'll need a ladder to climb on top. You can see it from the road and it's super easy to get to it. I grew up across the street from it, so we played on it all the time as kids.

Thanks for the gps coordinates. Is there an access road leading to the rock, or will I have to park off of Hwy 34 somewhere?
@ssg11b714 жыл бұрын
@@KyleWhitlock-Music you'll just have to park on HWY 34.... It's kinda grown up and brushy.... About 250-300 yds from the cemetery
