Oh yeah, then there was that time that Hork-Bjar cut his own head open and pulled his skull apart just to prove he didn't have a yerk in his head. Or all the horrible injuries the protagonist suffer up to and including being dismembered, impaled or blown the fuck up Psycho Pass style. This isn't alluded to either, the blood and gore is outright described. You know, for kids.

Remember that time that Jake got Yeerked so they locked him in a shed while the alien inside his brain slowly starved to death and Jake was forced to relive the lives of the Yeerk's previous hosts until the stress made him see a break in reality and he met Satan for a few seconds? Remember how Tobias was a beaten and abused kid to willingly went over the morphing time limit and was stuck as a bird so he didn't have to go back to his shitty aunt and uncle who probably put out cigarettes on his arms or something? Remember then when he got caught and tortured by aliens so badly that he shit himself in his cage? Remember when the Animorphs recruited another person but he turned out to be a dickbag that tried to kill them so they trapped him in rat morph and left him on an empty island? Remember when they loaded up a train with explosives and rammed it into the alien base killing Yeerks and innocent hosts alike in the thousands? Remember when the conscripted crippled children to fight in their war for them because of course would want to mind control broken people? Then they sacrificed those kids as a distraction so that they could sneak on board the Pool Ship by blackmailing the pacifist super robot that they were friends with destroying that friendship forever? Remember when Jake proceeded to flush tens of thousands of aliens into the cold void of space as another distraction when he knew that there very well was members of the Yeerk Resistance that opposed the bad guys in there that would die too? Remember when they cut a deal with Jake's mind controlled brother to infiltrate the ship but then double crossed him when Jake sent his cousin Rachel to kill him because he knew that Rachel needed to die because she enjoyed killing too much to ever re-acclimate to normal life? Remember when Jake gets tried for WAR CRIMES in front of the international courts? Remember how all the animorphs get PTSD and then kill themselves by crashing their space ship into the new threat that had killed one of their friends? Good times.

I love the idea of mimics disguised as different world objects, ladders, stairs, doors , illusion walls, hell maybe even mimic bonfires and mimic loot-corpses. The concept of any regular, world interact-able just suddenly killing you is deliciously ludicrous and I would hope it'll be somehow included to dark souls 3. Also more mimics in various different designs would allow for the opportunity to incorporate a full mimic armor-set and weapons. Just imagine it, rare drops from each of the mimics would be great, a mimic-sword from a bonfire mimic, a mimic-shield form a mimic wall, and various armor pieces from the rest of them. Ah, the novelty of it fills me up with glee even though it might never be implemented to this extent.

During pathology class, we were taking notes about how certain viruses spread and one of the methods was, quote "the bite of a female mosquito". Back in the day Scholastic used to sell their books through a school program where you would order them in. If they ever ran out of stock they would return your money along with a free book, and I once got an Animorph book. The main plot involved the lead character getting taken over by one of the brain slugs, so the other strapped him to a chair to wait out the time it takes a brain slug to starve if they stay away from their birthing pool for too long, or some such shit. What followed was the brain slug's memories of how his race went from primitive predator hosts, to a conquering empire with countless slave races that were breed to be ideal hosts with minimal free will. It also involved both the main character and the brain slug in immense, torturess pain, both screaming and crying for his friends to help him. Animorphs was really god damn metal.

Dude, I read Animorphs cover-to-cover...that shit is NOT for kids. Goosebumps was just a cute "Tales of the Crypt for younger generation" thing, but Animorphs was genuinely fucked up. So, as someone that had an embarassing phase where I watched the nick show for this, here is an explaination: Weird alien centaur guy crash lands on earth, and warns some kids about the invading brains slugs taking everything over. He also gives the kids shape shifting powers that lets them copy the forms of animals they absorb DNA from or something (cause holy shit, turning into a mouse or spider is a great espionage power), and the main drama with that is tht there is a time limit- go over the limit and your base form gets overwritten and you are a dumb ass bird now. But turning back into a kid while doing an infiltration mission is obviously a problem, and a good way to get brain slugged. So drama- betray your friends and loseyour mind, or be a goddamn bird. The centaur guy you see in this is the other's son or some shit, and he comes as a 6th ranger. But they eventually write their way out of having to bring that embarassing CGI out for every scene on a kid's show by forcing him to get his base form overwritten into a kid, cause he had to hide the fact that he was a blue centaur. His main role was to be the weird "what is this human thing called PI-ZZA? Does he serve lord POG?". Also to be alien space hippy- they don't even eat properly, they absorb grass through their feet- basically, he is ULTRA VEGAN where he can't even take bites of things. So that is an obvious excuse to have him get super hype about ALL FOOD since he never ate anything before.

Taught you a lot about what scientists theorized about animals and their senses and instincts at the time. It started getting kinda weird as it went on and I never finished the series, though.

The Animorphs series actually turned out to be a pretty good series of books, it was surprisingly dark for a kids series, the author also wrote this epic space horror story about a bunch of people sent out in a spaceship but were stuck in stasis for way too long as the ship went off course, one of the characters was awake during it and became psychic and there was a pregnant woman who ended up having a fucked up dominant psychic baby, looked like a really good story Infogrames also made Hogs Of War which was a really fun worms 3d clone on the ps1 with a comedian voice actor narrating it, and not in the dumb commentating way, he was pretending to be the general of the platoon you were controlling

***** I haven't watched .hack, but I heard that it's really slow, and not very focused on the whole trapped in an mmo thing. I've heard that it uses it more as a buffer for the setting than anything. Log Horizon is a better representation, but the focus of that story lies in establishing a working society in such a world. Log Horizon has some of the worst pacing I've ever seen though, so it's fucking unwatchable for me.

Lord have mercy, Animorphs truly is a product of it's time coming out during the era of Power Rangers, lame live action kids sitcoms starring actual kids, Power Rangers ripoffs, and frigging Goosebumps. Thankfully I dodged most of it and instead watched Beast Wars and Digimon.

D.C. Stranded Hey hey, the o.g. MMPR was decent and watchable. Let's not get it confused here, the sequels and rip-offs were awful, but the original was good. As for Beast Wars and Digimon...YESSSSSS. So good.

ShadedExistence I knew I should have been more specific. The key word in my previous comment is "most". I like Power Rangers, but more so the later shows like Time Force, Dino Thunder, and SPD. Largely because I wasn't born yet when Mighty Morphin came out.
