Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #209
The Mojave Desert is full of secret hidden volunteer cabins -- mostly old mining cabins that have been fixed up and are maintained by volunteers, who come out on the weekends to make repairs and stock the pantries and such. These cabins are available to any desert traveler seeking shelter on a first-come, first served basis. There is no charge to stay in such a cabin, but the code is to be gentle, clean up after yourself, and leave it better than you found it.
On this adventure, I traveled around a corner of the Mojave and visited four different cabins in two days. Some were REALLY nice...and some are in need of TLC to get them up to speed. This is the first cabin I visited on the trip.
wonderhussy, wonder hussy, ghost town, abandoned, abandoned town, abandoned house, volunteer cabin, public cabin,. desert cabin, BLM cabin, mojave desert cabin, mojave desert urbex, urbex, urban exploration, avawatz cabin, hollow hills cabin, valjean cabin, baker cabin, mojave cabin, staying in volunteer cabin, abandoned mine, mojave mine, mojave desert mining claim, abandoned mining claim

That was very, very cool of you to do, and a great job!! It would be a courteous thing if everyone who went to Volunteer Cabins, knowing what they are, would take something with them to leave, or add to the stock (a roll of toilet tissue, paper towels, a rug, a book, 1st aid\ Snake bite kit, tin cups, a wash bowl, indoor\outdoor folding chair, etc)... peace to you

Hi Sarah Jane! Not sure if you're aware of what BLM is doing to these volunteer cabins. My daughter is like you & over the years has enjoyed using these cabins. She's stayed in many & also has helped fix them up. BUT...BLM is now tearing them down. They don't like them & couldn't care less that people stay in them & take care of them. We wish there was something we could do to stop BLM. Love your videos & I'd not watched this one. Keep up the good work! You're such a cool person & we love you!😎🏜

Shotgun? You? Cool! You still have your electric stick? I lived in El Paso in 1979. Worked as DJ atKLOZ 102 FM. Used Togo to NM and we walked the trails and stayed in old cabins in mountains. White sands and two day hiking trails.I’m almost 58 now... I was 18 then. What fun. Enjoy these days. Oh you didn’t get a shot gun? That saddens me.

RULE# 1 No sleeping on the Cabin roof. Thanks for making my day with your video. Maybe I don't know where this is , but, it makes me feel good knowing places like this exist. Feel much better about our species. You are great. I love your videos.I am a big fan of Huell Howser's California Gold, etc. I think you have found the places he missed and I bet he would have loved them. Keep on truckin and exploring. My Wife and I were wandering spirits before and after kids, 4 Corners region was our oasis from living in SoCal. 40 years of diabetes has kind of wrecked my feet lately so I haven't made any big road trips since 2011. Went with both of my two Sons, one at a time two Summers in a row and hit 26 States + DC Thanks again

I wish that you could share with us where these places are as I would love to go and stay at them sometime during my travels(whenever they get started), but I understand why you don’t... Too many Jerks out there who have or would spoil something like this...! It’s so sad as I was born during a time when people would never even have thought of doing something so stupid... Thanks for sharing this information with us. Have a great day and be blessed.

Volunteers perform a sort of historical preservation function for these old abandoned miners' cabins. It would also be nice if there was a facet of volunteers who preserved the old abandoned mines for as long as they last too. After all, they're what those cabins are all about in the first place. BTW, that stonework may have been put there by those miners themselves long ago, and maintained as needed by subsequent visitors. That "Danger. Unsafe mine. Stay out stay alive". sign actually needs to be returned to the BLM as someone apparently must have removed it from an open abandoned mine somewhere in the area. The BLM can repost it where it came from or at some other open abandoned mine. Those signs are a taxpayer-funded public safety device. BTW, get up to speed about George Soros. There's at least some news about him almost every day on Infowars. If you want to learn the facts about George Soros, visit www.Infowars.com click the news link for live newscasts, or go to the Alex Jones Channel here on KZbin and click the uploads link for the latest uploaded newscasts. BTW, It's unfortunat that some guy who visited that cabin doesn't like the BLM. If it weren't for the BLM, none of us would have all that wilderness to enjoy as public lands. And nobody would be able to file mining claims and mine on that land either. Thank God for the 1872 mining law and the BLM!!!!

Gotta admire your desire to keep the problem people from finding the places you explore in yer videos. Some folks ain't the sharpest tools in the shed. Soros...He's one of those people like Mike Bloomburg (hope I didn't spell his name right). They think, since they are so rich, that they should decide what's good for the rest of us. They've both dumped a lot of money into using those Parkland, Florida kids like you'd use a toilet bowl brush. And nothing that's happened since is good for anyone but them. And those kids are trapped now...they'll have to live with all the video footage that's been generated for the rest of their lives. Lookin' back, I think to myself..."There must be a God..SOMEONE spared me from ever being asked to help set national policies." No kid that age has enough mileage on him/her to be making huge decisions. Been watching some of your videos (just found your channel recently...and it'll be a while before I catch up(8-)), and there's nothin' wrong with your brain. So you don't need leftist/democratic static in yer attic(8-). Tune it out and prosper, Lass. Oh...Just so ya know, I have tuned...ummm, elsewhere. You have what I call a classy chassis(8-).
