Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #211
*Note: I disabled comments on this video because of concerns that someone would post the name or other information identifying the location of this cabin. I have to respect the wishes of these cabins' caretakers...they want to keep the locations secret. If you have feedback regarding this or other videos, you can always contact me or post on my Facebook page: / wonderhusssy
The Mojave Desert is full of secret hidden volunteer cabins -- mostly old mining cabins that have been fixed up and are maintained by volunteers, who come out on the weekends to make repairs and stock the pantries and such. These cabins are available to any desert traveler seeking shelter on a first-come, first served basis. There is no charge to stay in such a cabin, but the code is to be gentle, clean up after yourself, and leave it better than you found it.
On this adventure, I traveled around a corner of the Mojave and visited four different cabins in two days. Some were REALLY nice...and some are in need of TLC to get them up to speed. This is the second cabin I visited on the trip...and it was pretty nice, except for a little kangaroo rat that kept me company all night!
