I have those same switches on my boat. They do not like water. I replaced a few thinking the the seal was bad, the new ones did the same.

Had both my Simrad’s replaced on my 22 Harris Grand Mariner. They had a bad run, I was told. They have been good since.

I have heard the same thing. I gave them the serial number and they said it was under a bulletin if it had failed. They have already sent a new one out. They seem to be a good company to deal with for warranty.

My new boat has a Simrad head unit. The three times I have called for support wait time was over 1 hour to get a tech.

The trick is to call right when they open. They seem to answer much faster before they get busy with the day. It can be frustrating. I understand that but they seem to always help when you talk to them.

So if you were buying a new $350k boat would you prefer Yamahas or Mercs?

I would pick the Mercs just because I want the Racing outboard. I like the 340 MTI. If I wanted a fishing boat I would go with the Yamaha. They are a little more bullet proof. 😊
