This is great Wade I have always been a bit obsessed with polar exploration and knew of this lost expedition. Nansen and Amundsen’s successful passage plus the South Pole adventures of Scott and Shackleton and Amundsen are just amazing. These stories show the absolute bravery of these men in their quest for knowledge of our world. They just discovered Shackletons ship, Endurance - that is a similar story to Franklins expedition but with the ships crew being rescued in one of the most crazy stories ever told!! They named two Antarctic volcanoes, Erebus and Terror after those two ships!! Just brilliant.

Thanks! Yes early exploring has always fascinated me also. Going off into the unknown not knowing what they will find or if they will return is crazy to think about. Exciting but scary. I heard about Shackleton's ship but never looked into it much yet or know much about it but I will be checking out some videos on that for sure. Thanks for the info and have a great week!

Great video to learn about the early explorations and the fate of many of the explorers. Interesting about the recent discoveries plus the lead found in the bones. 2016 is a pretty recent find. I'm sure with today's technology there will be many unknowns answered with future discoveries. Pretty neat video Wade. Thanks for sharing the history. Have a wonderful day.

I like learning about the early explorers. Some fascinating stories. Watching the 2019 video of the tour through the terror is so amazing to me. It is in excellent condition for how old it is. Thanks!

Thank you for this video, It was exactly what I was looking for: Just the facts, no commentary or speculation. And I appreciate the included original photos and documents. Not to mention it was concise. I'd recommend this over many of the longer videos.

What a wonderful job on this video! I was first interested in the Northwest Passage when I watched "Buried In Ice" on Nova. They didn't teach this when I learned about history in school. I wonder if we would ever find out the rest of the story of the Franklin Expedition in our future.

Glad you enjoyed it! There is so much history like this that they don't teach in school. I doubt much else will be uncovered with this story but you never know. Have a good day.

Awesome! I just finished watching "The Terror" which is a retelling of this journey. The show is fiction and embellishes the story with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Nice to hear a bit more about the true history. I took an interest in this because I recently did a video on the St Roche at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, which was the of second ago to ever complete the Northwest Passage!
@ExploringwithWade2 жыл бұрын
I never watched 'The Terror' but have seen and heard about it. I tried to stick to the facts on this one. Oh that is very interesting I didn't hear about the St Roche so I will have to check that out! You have some interesting videos and lots I still want to watch. Take care! Maybe one day we can link up out there.

Hi Wade. I remember hearing about the discoveries of the Expedition since the the mid - late 1980's. Another story you could do is the "Mad" Trapper of Rat River, NWT. Keep up the great work.
@ExploringwithWade2 жыл бұрын
Yes the Mad trapper was on my list as a possible one to do so it is a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion.

Intriguing story! Did none of them ask for help to the locals (as there seems to have been at least some contact)?
@ExploringwithWade2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is fascinating! Yes that was a thought of mine too and there are so many theories of what happened to them all. Some stories tell of some of the crew surviving for many years after they were thought to have died so maybe some integrated in with the inuit but we don't know for sure and may never fully know. Have a great day!
