It's tough to say. It certainly was when it first opened. Comes in at around $100 million more than the African Union building, SA's Leonardo building (which ChatGPT thinks is the most expensive 🙄), and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina which was, before the convention centre, the most expensive at $220 million. If you Google 'most expensive building in Africa' it still seems to rank top in most lists. However, it does appear to have been overtaken by a mansion in Nigeria which is reportedly worth $700 million! Built by Folorunsho Alakija, Africa's richest woman. But that's the sale price, not what it cost to build.
