Dude, I am a retired PC tech. I did it for 25 years. I carried a stethoscope with me primarily to listen to hard drives when a pc would not boot. If you cannot isolate a noise right away using a stethoscope helps by switching from one zone to the next and putting it against the pipes. The louder it gets in your ears, the closer you are to the problem.

My thoughts Exactly, no disrespect to Steve but he and the customer were both acting like Lou Costello alternatively! Three things here could have eased the situation : 1. Stop arguing in circles foremost, 2. Go up and listen to the sound upstairs, 3. Just go ahead and disconnect the pump and see if the sound stops! Geez , Steve could have been done with that by the time he finished trying to beat the dead horse!! Steve, I love you and your videos but sometimes you get stuck in a loop on a one track mind! LOL! It's all good though and we're sticking with ya, even if I keep talking to ya in the video to drop it and get on with it cause the Lunkhead you're dealing with ain't gonna listen!!

The vibration from the existing circulator, amplified as the waveform travelled along the pipes in addition to turbulence from probable air trapped in the system on the second floor, is what he was hearing, and would be a felt vibration, in addition to a sound vibration.

30:12 did someone actually solder that propress fitting? Probably cut the copper pipe with a grinder and left a sharp edge on it which cut the o-ring when they pushed the fitting on. When it leaked they just drained the boiler down again and soldered it. What a hack job.
@brettkenney64642 жыл бұрын
You can actually solder those fittings in a pinch if you need to. I went to a job where they said the tub/ shower was leaking and their was an access panel on the opposing wet wall and the idiot that put the valve in forgot to press a coupling above the valve. I couldn't fit the tool in their to press it!

IFC ‘s suck install flow checks with circulators. This system lasted 20 yrs and still works good. Weil McLein with a QB burner was the best set up Only better would be a WB peerless with a reillo burner. What about well pump grinding , sounds louder at night when all quiet.

Worked on a lot of Boilers in my time but never heard of a QB Burner,,.....Is that a Beckett. I noticed it said Beckett on the A Pump. Strange setup with the transformer and the end cone on the gun assembly and not the blast tube. .I was also surprised it was only firing .75 GPH on a boiler that size. I was in the field when the old Weil McClains were around before the Gold Series came out. We installed a bunch of them with no problems except when you had to clean them and the sections being so tight , getting a brush in there was a PITA.

What you are hearing is electrolysis and resonating ultra-sonic vibration caused by a phenomenon in certain circumstances where the pressure and air pockets hum because of a differential in cyclonic back flow.
