Search for the video of the kayakers, who encountered whales close to the coast. They decided to paddle towards them, and then a whale slowly came up below the woman and lifted her and her little kayak up on its back. Nobody got harmed, but this would have freaked me out. One tail smack and you're history. But apparently that whale was just playing with the kayak and put her back down after a while.

It's a seal. The profile/outline of the head is the giveaway. They're very curious when they see something new in their area, especially where people are concerned. I used to dive this one spot in Puget Sound regularly, and there was a seal in the area that had a fascination with divers. It would break the surface and watch divers getting their gear on then "disappear" when we entered the water. Drifting along the undersea shelf looking for wolf eels and octopi, the seal would swim around us for several minutes checking us out and doing playful barrel rolls past us. It was amazing to watch something that large be so graceful and fast in the water.

Coming from Scotland where we have a lot of seals, I would say it is a "grey seal", seen them many times before "spy hopping", The young ones even come right up to you to have a closer look out of pure curiosity. And if you use their wailing call to communicate with them, the adults will follow you all the way along the beach in the water. They act so much like dogs do.

It always freaks me out when people go out on the ocean on a kayak, especially fishing. I’ve got a 14’ row boat with motor and even an 18” freshwater bass can haul that thing along, Nantucket Sleigh Ride style...I cannot imagine hooking some big ocean fish from a tiny kayak, not to mention the fact that lots of ocean dwellers are big enough to capsize, bite, and thrash me off it. The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

Yep, a seal. I used to fish in the Gulf in my kayak until one day I caught a 5 foot sharpnose, which caused me to flip my kayak. If you've ever tried getting back in a kayak while a quarter mile or more from shore, you'll know how difficult it can be. That was my last salt water fishing adventure from a kayak.

I’ve had that happen in the Pacific Powell River. The seals would follow us there, as soon as you get one online they come and take it, it’s easier for them to catch that way. People there often carry rifles in their boat and shoot them. I thought the same thing, horrible. But when you fish all night and they take most of the fish, you understand the frustration
