It’s gotta be onyx. Looks handmade too. Definitely an interesting piece. One of these days I’m going to bring a bag of mystery stuff to a jeweler to get it identified

Found a similar pendent in Mexico last year, but mine had no back, just a silver chain around the edge. You can actually see the Sun through it safely, almost like a welding monocle. 👍

Pendent... it looks very much like a pendent my grandmother use to have. Had a white ivory Cameo on it. Maybe you should have checked around the hole it was in for a nonmetal ivory Cameo lol

The pendant could also be made of whitby jet. A type of coal/stone used a lot in the 1800's for jewelry. Jet is very lightweight whereas onyx is heavy. ( A good way to tell which is is ) :)

Right on, yeah I also have the D2 and found one the other day and it did ring higher but another war nickel('42(p above Monticello) I found didn't ring much higher than a regular one. Idk fake.. or maybe the molten metal in the pot didn't get mixed very good before they stamped it?! Who knows but maybe worth a second look.
