We got the E&P on our caravan, makes a massive difference and always nice to be level, I spray the rams every 3 months, so much better to fit the lozenge now as I tend to forget to get the gap correct.

Thanks for the Tip, Is it any special type you use to spray the rams

We purchased E&P through MG for our old caravan and it was excellent for getting the alko wheel lock aligned on site. It also takes out all of the 'bounce' you become accustomed to, with a van. We've since moved to the dark side and purchased a motorhome, and levelling is reasonably easy. (Note, Our old Swift conqueror 560 with self leveling is still for sale at Downtide caravans near Cromer). Top vlogging. 👌👍👏💪

I had the full E&P system fitted to our previous caravan after years of messing about with wooden blocks and inflatable bags with the money we saved during lockdown. I'm so impressed with it though that we ordered it for our new caravan last year. I opted for the extra large footplates with the plastic covers too. These negates the need for carrying spreader plates for use on soft ground. The one and only problem I've had with the system was when the control panel battery was flat on arrival at the site we were staying on. This has never happened since and I can't explain why it happened then. Anyway, to cut a long story short, if you remove the control panel from its frame you'll find two tiny buttons in the back of the frame which you press with a ballpoint pen or similar. These provide manual up & down control so, at least we managed to get the corner steadies down to stabilise the caravan while the control panel charged. You can't self level this way though. We were never told about these buttons and only found out about them while Googling the problem as the control panel was charging.

Thank you for confirming how good the system is and thank you for the tip reference the control panel battery. Out & About did show me the 2 small buttons on the back and how to use them in an emergency if needed. Thanks again for watching and commenting 🙂

Our lusso 2 has e&p fitted as standard make all lock fitting a breeze. The only I had was with a very unlevel pitch which required a block or wood under 1 of the central jacks. The wheels on 1 side were approx 2” of the ground. But stable
@CaravanEscapades1017 күн бұрын
That's good to hear and Out & About did explain that maybe the case when on a particularly slopy pitch, it must be a bit disconcerting seeing the wheels off the ground like that 🙂

Brilliant piece of kit, was lucky when we upgraded our caravan two years ago it was already fitted to our Elddis crusader super cyclone. If you watch the caravan place, there's a video on there how to recalibrate the system. Just incase you're not happy how your caravan is sitting, ie if your water is not draining from your shower. It's ok being perfectly flat, but sometimes not so good for water drainage...... I'll see if I can find the link, and copy and paste it 👍🏻
@CaravanEscapades1018 күн бұрын
Thank you I will take a look at the Video, they did talk me though how to recalibrate when I collected it if we found we needed to because of show draining etc.

I would probable use some large distribution pads under the feei if the ground conditions were poor. Always used for the weight distribution for mobile cranes.
@CaravanEscapades1018 күн бұрын
@mentonish Hi, thank you for the tip. Out & About suggested exactly that and go for the ones used for commercial purposes rather than having them fitted to the Jack's. Apparently they bigger ones permanently fitted to Jack's reduce the available stroke.
@theonlywoody2shoes8 күн бұрын
Do you store it with the centre jacks down to prevent flat spots on the tyres? I guess it’s a lot easier to rotate the wheels periodically if not.
@CaravanEscapades1018 күн бұрын
@theonlywoody2shoes Hi, I was advised not to keep the centre Jack's protected from the elements when not needed. To be fair we use the Caravan almost every month so used quite regular. The storage is close so I could go up jack it up rotate the wheels and drop it down again 😁

@CaravanEscapades101 Thanks for the reply. We have a Challenger 650 (2021) but are having problems getting it up-plated to fit this system.
@CaravanEscapades1017 күн бұрын
@ What's the ep[problem getting it updated is it you cant get anyone to do it or up plating it wont give you enough payload.
@theonlywoody2shoes7 күн бұрын
@CaravanEscapades101 Can't get anyone to do it. Swift recommended a place down in Essex, but they say they can't get the necessary data from Swift to issue the up plating. Swift hasn't replied to my email about this; and there is apparently some issue with their record keeping at that time, so they can't provide the info the dealer needs to issue the up plating paperwork.

Hi James, probably the best investment for twin axle, just hope you kept the original legs because you can have the system removed and refitted to another van. I tend to extend the front legs and back because it hides the rams on the level system so no grits collected,but the central ones will. Also I’ve disabled the bleeper from the box underneath, can be annoying on site if you leave early. Some advice is to use a off cut piece of wood for central jacks because they will sink in on soft ground etc, I had no issues with my system, but every year service the legs with a clean and some spray of white grease. Just put the handbrake on when you have fitted the locks before you lower down and always chock the o/s wheels before jacking up and letting off the handbrake, because you’re caravan can roll slightly and bend the central ram, just things no one tells you. But amazing you have this now life changing, hope the rest of family are well happy holidays 👍
@gooney718 күн бұрын
@@ng2361 may I ask how you stopped the bleeping? Is it a fuse? It can be annoying, plus it does say "look at me, look what I've got" 😂

Hi James, Brilliant upgrade 👍. I would have had this (I like my gadgets) but unfortunately I don’t have the payload. I notice Swift only offer E&P as a factory fit on the Elegance Grande only. By the way, did you have the weight plate upgrade when you first bought the caravan. Cheers, Rob 😀
@CaravanEscapades1018 күн бұрын
Hi Rob, that's a shame and I wonder why only a Factory fit on the Elegance, I would have thought all the chassis are the same. I did have it updated when we bought the van and it gave us an extra 198 Kilo's 🙂

@ new single axle vans have a shockingly bad payload, something to do with new drivers license. My bailey only has 165kg & that’s with an “upgrade “ of 10kg. My previous van a single axle Pegasus had a payload of 250kg.
