Alex have you considered checking with the local governmental office to see if there are any old aerial photographs of your property? You may also try flying a Drone over your land to see if a new perspective might reveal something you are not seeing at ground level.

There's a KZbinr that goes thru old photos/maps to locate where old outhouses used to stand (from late 1800s to the early 1900s) and digs them out, finding bottles and plates, marbles and shoes, etc . . . It's fascinating. Alex should hunt down the old outhouse pit.

Alexander, what you need is what we in the lower 48 call a brush hog. It is much like a lawn mower but industrial grade. the blades are much heavier and stouter. Good luck with the project and I am waiting with bated breath to see how it turns out.

This is such fun watching you discover and improve your property. That could be a lovely area with some sweat investment and time. Those roses may not be wild? Maybe planted many years ago by a lady from another time. They can be very hearty and survive for many years with all the protection from the trees and underbrush. I just love this!

Great to see Hans and Zenobia. So happy they’re doing well. You mentioned that a neighbor had landscaped their portion of the creek. Would they allow you to video it and give us an idea of what you’re striving for. Living on the Sonoran Desert floor Arizona, all my life, the thought of cutting down a tree 🌲 is devastating. If it grows a gives shade you keep it. We just lost a 52 year old, 45’ tall pine in a monsoon storm that fell from our front yard, across the street and crushed our neighbors 2 cars. Thank you to God no one was injured. The next week we lost half of our 4 year old roof in another storm. Praising God again for keeping people safe. It’s odd to look at water pouring in your home. But a peek into your plans would be wonderful. Do you need to worry about wildfires?

It will be so nice to see the rose walk next summer, in bloom ! And wonderful to have Hans and Zinovia here for a few episodes while you set up a creek view scene. So interesting and calming to be out in the woods ! You could put up trail cams and show us what kind of wildlife comes around to your property. There will be more once you clean up the creek and get it free flowing again. Just think of the myriad little creatures that use that beam to cross to the other side, you must put it back if you move it, because the little animals will remember where to cross. Love it ! You are so blessed to have your family and a beautiful home and property to explore ! ♥️ 🕊️ 🇨🇦

What a great episode, made all the better for seeing Hans and Zenovia. They really are very special folks! I love how you find a use for everything - I really relate to that! Planning to use the cut timber for your Mum-in-law’s winter heating is just down my street. This exploration of the woods took me right back to childhood, and ‘discovering’ the hidden secrets in a wood where my friends and I used to play. That was sixty years ago, but is still as clear as if it were yesterday. Sending love to you all!

I look forward to seeing what Melissa might find to forage in there next year (rosehips are a good source of vitamin c & are a good addition to apple pies but the hairs in them are a pain) & Great to see H & Z The MIL won't be able to burn that wood this winter, it needs to season for several months + to dry out fully before burning

Great wood to age, for sure!-because if you burn it with high moisture content, it creates creosote in chimneys, as well as not burning efficiently to put off heat like dry wood does. It needs 6 mo. to 1 year to “cure”. Definitely worth cutting and stacking under shelter at your MIL’s place to dry fur next year !🤗

Plus if it's fir, pine or cedar it will create more creosote in the chimney anyway, dry or not.
