Mystery Stairs found in the woods! where do they go?!?

I didn't expect to find this when I started clearing our woods out back!
We have been planning some landscaping for the forest behind our house for a while, and today I started clearing some overgrown brush and found this staircase in the woods! where does it lead? What will I find at the bottom of it? Follow part 1 of this adventure!

Alex have you considered checking with the local governmental office to see if there are any old aerial photographs of your property? You may also try flying a Drone over your land to see if a new perspective might reveal something you are not seeing at ground level.

There's a KZbinr that goes thru old photos/maps to locate where old outhouses used to stand (from late 1800s to the early 1900s) and digs them out, finding bottles and plates, marbles and shoes, etc . . . It's fascinating. Alex should hunt down the old outhouse pit.

i envy that you get to clear up the woodlands and discover paths, old rose bushes, and a creek that can be beautifully landscaped. I love transforming over grown areas. That pump house needs to be saved, uprighted, secured, and become a place for Wisteria to climb. I'd build little areas for fairy houses (save the twigs!), doorways and stairs on the trees, and use gorgeous plants of different colors to liven up the area. Can I please come live with you? LOL!
