thinking it takes 35 years for radiation to normalize is crazy. It takes 1-5 years, probably way less if there’s rain. the real problem would be food + water, which he has, because you wont be able to grow anything for like 10 years due to much colder and less rain weather, not to mention ozone damage

@@jamesgarrett8833 The scariest part of that episode is that a Broken Arrow incident like that actually happened in South Carolina in 1958. A malfunction onboard a B-47 caused the warhead to drop and it landed on some family's property. "Suddenly, all hell broke loose. Around 4:20 p.m., a loud boom sounded and the sides and roof of the garage were blown off. The family home was shifted off of its foundation, with holes opening in the exterior structure and the furniture inside reduced to rubble. The backyard garden-including the girls’ playhouse-had vanished. In its place was a massive crater over 50 feet wide and 30 feet deep. Dust and debris filled the air."

@@RS54321 :D haha! That would actually make for some really funny social media content lol. I remember the worst time I got lost in the early ‘90s before we had any digital help for driving instructions (ironically, my mother worked for the Air Force for many years in the department that was the GPS project, so her work was instrumental for everyone having google maps driving instructions in their cell phones today)… I was working in Los Angeles at the time (I lived in a suburb around 45 minutes - an hour north of where I worked, so I wasn’t familiar with LA much at all then)… I completely got off track from where I was trying to drive to one day, getting on the wrong freeway and ended up in the inner city, South Central LA - Watts (we’re talking hardcore gangland territory). I had a dumpy old used Ford escort that didn’t even have automatic windows and was dented up, but still, my car was like the Lamborghini of the city lol. Their cars were even older and in worse condition. I was also the only white person there, much less the fact being I was a young white girl in my very early 20s too, so I stuck out like a sore thumb with everyone staring at me as I was driving around lost. I finally found a convenient store similar to a 7-Eleven with a payphone outside, and stopped to call someone for directions on how the hell to get out of there and get on the right freeway towards home. I got to know my Thomas map guidebook *extremely* well that day with the help of that phone call, but no joke I was really scared that I’d never make it out of there. Young people today will never understand that feeling of being _THAT_ lost with the help of cell phones today. I’d never before or since gotten that lost in my life, and ending up in a community where I knew people naturally aren’t a fan of folks that looked like me because this was during the days of the LA riots and such… well, it was pretty terrifying for young me. Every time I use my cell phone for driving directions, in my head I thank my mom and her co-workers that developed/launched GPS, making life a million times easier when driving to new areas!

Calvin's paranoia but also is preparation skills saved not only his family but about 40 guests as well. He sent them home went straight in the bunker and boom the plane hit. I'd probably let him build the new bunker. Just think of what he could achieve with the millions he has now 🤣

I remember when this movie came out. Brandon Fraiser was big for movies for that time with "the mummy" and "George of the Jungle" and if you want to count it "Encino man" that came out in the early 90s.

Wow what a wild movie! Idk how this went under the radar for so many years to me. Cool storytelling style too. Love the false protagonist twist they pulled with the father and his wife. They made us believe that the parents were the protagonists only to shift the story about a quarter into the movie over to the son.

Just fyi, the radiation from Atom bombs doesnt even last 1 year. It lasts about 2 weeks. We get the myth that fallout lasts so long from Nuclear power plant meltdowns, which are a totally different scenario.

I wish fallout bunkers were less and less made but considering the New Econ.Cold War against N.Ka and Polynesia, the paranoia is becoming straight up unhealthy to the point that city states have almost literally finished replicating underground cities for the elite.

There are SO MANY movies being made these days, that describe these isolated civilizations that end up discovering that the REAL world was nothing like they thought it was. They usually end with a mind-blowing paradigm shift for the person who makes this discovery. They are telling us...that reality is not what we believe it to be. And we would be shocked to know what is actually REAL.
