Imagine what our boy Aurelian could have done had he survived for far more than 5 years.
@chrisgrech79923 жыл бұрын
had he survived? he was already old by Roman standards
@Kunumbah13 жыл бұрын
@@chrisgrech7992 He was old but he wasn’t knocking at deaths door when he was assassinated. Augustus died at 75, Vespasian died at 71, and Tiberius died at 77. These deaths likely weren’t due to simply old age neither. Augustus was sick his entire life, Vespasian died of bloody diarrhea likely contracted from some disease and Tiberius was likely assassinated by Caligula. Aurelian was 61 and still healthy and strong. Had he not been assassinated or unfortunately contracted some disease he likely could’ve lived another 10 years.
@chrisgrech79923 жыл бұрын
@@Kunumbah1 doesn't mean because some few others did, he might live longer and in that age the older he got, the more likely revolts would break out because they would know he was getting feeble. He lived in an age in which revolts happened to be the order of the day. Revolts kept occurring after him, it was a problem beyond his or anyone's reach.
@atlasxproductions5381 Жыл бұрын
All of that is true. Aurelian isn’t known (as far as I know) to have contracted any disease, and being in the military likely since the beginning of the crisis (either circa Alexander Severus or the Year of the Six Emperors) would have given him a longer life because of fitness and simply being on his toes at all times. As for everything else you said, everything is right except for the Tiberius fact: Tiberius was dying of natural causes on his deathbed, Caligula simply sped up the process fueled by his hatred for Tiberius for practically massacring Caligula’s family.
