Not a bad game, but not great either. But the music and graphics were quite impressive and endearing. This game didn't get nearly enough love, and doesn't now. I'd easily say I enjoyed it more than Chrono Trigger (just not for anywhere near as long...)

First video game I bought with my own money as a kid :) I was so damn proud of that $5, and worth every bit! Showed me the value of honest work, and it was my great grandma when I was 7 that pretty much raised me. :) So many good memories.

I just found you while I was looking for this exact song, well done! This was the first RPG I ever played. Not absolutely terrible, but still not a great game if you compare it to others in the main series, but damn, that music! In any case, you have a new subscriber.

***** The problem is that it's an extremely over-simplified RPG, no customization, and damn near impossible to lose. Even if you do, it starts you right back at the fight you died at with full health as if nothing happened, it's basically a game where you mash the A button over and over. Another problem is the party members, every ally you meet is WAY stronger than the main character, so they basically carry you through the whole game. There are a few other issues, but those are the worst. That being said, it's somewhat acceptable for new players, but I would definitely hesitate to call it a Final Fantasy game. Personally I'd say stick to the main numbered series, or play something like Final Fantasy Tactics if you like strategy based gameplay. My personal favorite in the series is FF6.

X has great songs, XI has one of the most solid sountracks to it, XII isnt too bad, XIII has some great themes, and XIV has a lot of good music. And the little bit of XV we have heard already sounds amazing. Newer FF titles still have great music. In some cases, Even better music.

The game was fine for what it was, people just bandwagon hate on it because it became popular to over the years. The front-cover even states that it's a "Entry-level RPG". It was marketed as such, no misinformation given. That's like being upset that your coffee says it's hot and you burned yourself on it. Or being mad that you frequently died in Dark Souls when its entire advertising campaign was rallied around it being difficult.
