I never played this back in the day, I wish I could have. It sure has good music! EDIT: This game was released on PSN so now I have it. Its basically a ninja version of Sunset Riders and thats cool!

Somehow Konami forgot this title and Sunset Riders. Then again, this title is purely arcade and only for quick gaming. Kids these days, if the game isn't double/triple digits hour long, they dismiss the game... That would make this nice game merely 'a product of its time'. And the thing Konami excelled at: Quick, short games that are nice. (While indeed they made the likes of Metroidvania games, Metal Gear, Suikoden or other double-digits hours long games... let's remember that in the early-mid 90's; quick, short games were the rage)

How did you go about not having a slowdown? What Overclock process did you do? I'm trying to play with friends on 4 players, but the game has a very slowdown.

If you're using the regular version of MAME, you can overclock by going into the slider menu. image.ibb.co/bCLtzw/mame64_2017_12_29_10_31_31.png Cheat needs to be set to 1 in mame.ini for the overclock option to appear. I believe you could also use the command -cheat, if you're using command prompt to start MAME. I think you would want to hold alt while pressing right on the keyboard to make it go right up to 200%. In case you actually happen to be playing this online with MAME++, which I used to play this, you would hold left shift+F11 and then press 8 during gameplay to overclock.

Just about every emu I play this on has only a 2-player option. Where can I get the 4-player version and which emus can I play this on?

I think any version of MAME can play this with 4 players. While the game is running in MAME, hit the TAB key to open the menu, go to dip switches and change the number of players to 4 and then reset the game with F3.

***** It's really just the regular MAME++ 0.119 which most players use for online. I don't think it's too bad for this if everyone has a good connection. That said, while I think this wasn't very laggy when we actually played it, even the slightest amount of lag would be gone, since I recorded this from a replay file that was made while playing it. To get to the overclock setting, you need to run the game with the "-cheat" command (or you could set cheat to 1 in MAME.ini), and then go to slider controls in the MAME menu while the game is running. You can hold the "alt" key to instantly get to 200% overclock. If you need higher than 200%, you would have to use an older MAME like MAMEUIFX or compile it yourself.

@@washedjp1651 Unfortunately, the only build of MAME I know of that allows this is MAME++ 0.119. I haven't heard of any newer versions that have this feature. They deliberately make it so you can't save the refresh rate and overclock features in the slider controls, so if there is a build out there that allows it, it won't be an official build of MAME.

Back when I played this, I was using an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 with 3 gigs of RAM. I have a better computer now, but I don't think there was any problem playing this on the last computer.

Are you referring to when players appear in the game or pick up an item? If that's what you mean, it's normal game behavior and is meant to show when the player is invincible.
