I have old tools from both of my great grandpa's. This gives me a way to give them a new life. I can create an heirloom to pass on. Great video!

Amazing work! Judging by your process, I’d say you were a fan of Wayne Godard’s “The Wonder of Knife Making” or “the $50 knife shop”. Those books did wonders for me starting out. I could be way off though lol. Cheers

Cool build. Even though your blade design is very clean, it has a nice handmade appearance because of the handle. I like it !!
@Mysticmountainforge2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I always like to keep the handles as close to untouched as I can on this style of knife to retain the wrench look as much as possible. I appreciate you watching!

Thanks! I appreciate you watching! The old ones make better knives thats the truth, whatever this one was made of hardened better than any I have ever made from a crescent wrench.

Is this steel good for knives??
@Mysticmountainforge2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on where it is made in my opinion, I have made several of these and it seems like the older US made ones harden really nice. When I did the file test after heat treat the file wouldn't touch it, I have made some in the past with cheap wrenches that didn't even need tempering because they were so soft. Even then I still treat them as more of a novelty knife than one you would want to carry and use. Plumbers and Mechanics love them to put on display in their man cave or shop.
