The scene I've hardly seen people talk about is the one where Sasuke was leaving Konoha and Sakura followed him and tried to stop him. Let's talk about that. She didnot do it coz she cared about what's gonna happen to Sasuke in Orochimaru's custody, what she cared about is her die hard crush is leaving the villiage, her only motivation to go on those missions with Team7 with zero effort of improvement is leaving the village. Saying shit like I'll try to keep you happy, I'll be your wife and shit like???? He doesn't care?? Can't you see that?! She did so coz she got desperate as fuck. Sakura’s obsession with Sasuke butchers her character’s redeeming qualities in Parts 1 and 2. Every single time it seems as though her character is actually undergoing growth, and she happens to see Sasuke, that growth evaporates. Kishimoto got better at avoiding this as the series went on, but at the end of the war arc he reverted right back to his old way of writing Sakura. Even if some people somehow like her relationship with Sasuke, I don’t understand how they can justify to themselves with mental gymnastics the fact that Sasuke not going home to see his family for ELEVAN YEARS is a perfectly fine thing. That is actually insane to me. How is Sakura not knowing if her own husband wears glasses, cute? How is Sasuke not knowing what his literal child looks like, cute? How is Sakura’s only recollection of a date with her husband being a 2 minute long ordeal even remotely wholesome? And all of that is in Boruto, where you’d assume the issues with their relationship would be fixed via retcons! I mean, people are so starved for affection within that relationship, Sasuke merely calling her his wife is grounds for a “moment” to some people. It’s a shame really. Sakura had the single most potential out of all female characters, and Kishimoto squandered it by having a female character be so tremendously influenced by a male one, yet again.

sakura is given some plot device moments later on to "save naruto" or help him so we think now shes a good friend making up for her past actions so we buy their friendship arc now but she did put naruto through a lot if you strip away the plot device ninja stuff she did to help him for a second and look at their bond from a reality stand point in our world she is awful he deserves better no one should have to put up with that abuse..she never could just be straight and tell him its never going to happen but hey hinata and you would make a cute couple.. like a good friend would you know...tell him she would make him happier ...her ego won't allow it I guess smdh.. ..if he was not crushing on her expecting some reward one day like her picking him over sasuke he probably would not have put up with it to be honest...hes so naive thinking she would change denying himself a girlfriend for years..what an idiot...

For those who claim Sakura changed During the series, I just want to remind you that during great war when Sasuke arrives, Sakura was disappointed Sasuke didn't give her any attention, while thousands of people where lying dead on the ground and Madara was going to kill the rest of them.

Its crazy that this is the only character in team 7 who hasnt actually been through the confines of solitude. The Kakashi , Naruto, and Sasuke have all been alone for a vast portion of their lives throughout their childhood. Talk about a puzzle piece that didnt fit.

I feel like all of Sakura's potential to become an amazing, beloved character was thrown away. I think we can all agree that in the original series she was annoying. In shippuden, I expected to see her grow and not be the same annoying brat that cries over Sasuke. And in the first arc, she was going strong. But when she encounters Sasuke after those 2 years, it's like she loses all of the development she gained until that point. Sure, sometimes she'll punch a bad guy or heal a person, but that was it until the fourth great ninja war. Although, I do feel sometimes people over exaggerate her uselessness too. I mean, I do feel sometimes people forget she is a medical ninja. She can't go headfirst into the battlefield either, because she needs to heal the wounded/hurt. Tsunade did explain that. A medical ninja is a major role in a mission, so she can't completely drain her chakra either. But at the same time, that doesn't mean she can just completely stay out of the battle and cry for help. As for her lying to Naruto that she loves him, I wasn't very happy with that. I understand she was trying to "Lift the burden she placed on him" or whatever, but there were so many other ways to do it, SO MANY, and yet she chooses to lie to Naruto's face and say "I lOvE yOu." She had the right idea, but just did it in the worst way possible. I feel like Sakura has her pros and cons. I personally think she is an OK character, she isn't my favorite, but at the same time she isn't my least favorite. You know what I think Sakura needs? Better character development. Maybe then we would like her a lot more. I feel her cons got to people more, which then started spreading, creating this big, toxic Sakura hating community, where they begin to completey ignore anything good that she's done and focus on the bad. When analyzing a character, whether they are from a series or a book, they need to look at both sides, not just one. Theres also the people that only focus on the good, which isn't right either, because then they start to attack anyone who insult Sakura. (Sakura Tards) There are also Hinata Tards, Ino Tards, and "Tards" for so many more characters. And these "Tards" just focus on the good. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will say though.she could beat most of the girls in kohona. She is pretty powerful, after all. I do also feel she gets WAY more hate than she deserves, but at the same time, she does have many faults.

Sakura is a medical ninja, so she wasn't supposed to go on the front lines unless absolutely necessary. Of course, having the seal exempts her from that rule. Still, you have to keep in mind that the series wanted people to think that Sakura could be more than a medical ninja. She didn't just have amazing healing powers. She also had monstrous strength, evasion, intelligence, and a talent for genjutsu. Despite not having a special clan ability, Sakura had multiple talents. And, then look what happened. She hardly ever hit anything with her monstrous strength, and despite her evasion skills, there were still several times when she got hit. Her genjutsu affinity was hardly ever touched on, too. Instead, Sasuke became the genjutsu type. Had Sakura been established simply as a medic, no one would have minded her much. But, Kishimoto set Sakura up with more than just healing abilities. Essentially, she had multiple talents but had absolutely no idea on how to capitalize on all of them. I think that this is the biggest reason why people don't like Sakura. She had so much potential, especially after her fight with Sasori, but she never realized it. She could have been a very interesting and much needed combination of Tsunade, Kurenai, and Shikamaru. Unfortunately, the writing didn't do her justice. As you said, she deserved better development. Still, I agree with your overall point. That's just one thing that I needed to contest.
