I mean, there are hints in the game pointing to the fact that frisk might have been trying to commit a funny lil act on that mountain, and that they didn't have the best home situation possibly.

In the end boss fight of the pacifist route we get to see what a human really fights like when they are truly determined. Also frisk isn't hateful, and that's why they deal so little damage to monsters (that and they are a kid without a proper weapon.) in the genocide route we get to see how much damage a human can deal to monsters when they actually want to kill them. So yeah they aren't really "holding back" it's more like whatever reason they decided to go to a mountain known for causing death is holding them back.

So, I've thought about what that would be like. First things first: don't kid yourself about a genocide run. You can't kill Toriel if her Defense is actually 80. Even if you max out your EXP by only farming Loox and performing the ACT sequence of Pick On×2->Don't Pick On×2->Pick On->Don't Pick On×2->Pick On×2 before killing him (not an easy task, since Loox's attacks get more dangerous the more you pick on him, you have to kill him afterward, and he's rarely alone), that'll only be enough to get you to LV7, and the Toy Knife only increases your Attack by +3. The result is that you can't go past 15 Attack before leaving the Ruins. You would have to cheat in the Real Knife to progress. Second: Glyde, being that his stats are too high to be stated, would become the ultimate warrior with max attack and defense. We just have to take his word for it. Third: Asriel should force you to completely abandon the run for good the first time you get hit. Infinite Attack means you can't stop taking damage. Beating the game on any route other than Neutral would require a No-Hit Asriel, a feat most people believed was straight-up impossible and still is impossible for humans. You would have to use tools in order to pull it off.

The player obviously deals way way more than 1 of damage by that point so there was no need to put him so low in HP, the code stats may guide a bit though they're not the canon ones, so i think Sans is supposed to have low HP(perhaps 1 as the base stat), we have to acknowledge that eveb though the code stats may help to guide they're still non-canon so he may not have exactly 1 HP anyway

To let Clover become a cog in the machine, doomed to die no matter what happens, or to achieve freedom for themselves and the souls at the cost of a partial genocide. I also think it’s important to realize that Clover never initiated a battle against anyone other than Martlet. It’s as Starlo said, “you could have blasted me already but you didn’t”. Clover only engaged when approached, it only just so happened that they kept bumbling into monsters that attacked them. 😉😏😝 Anyway, just like how Undertale’s genocide route was driven on the determination to see what happens, to just push the boundaries of what is possible in the game, going as far as you can just because you can, Undertale Yellow’s route is all about breaking from the predetermined ending, and enact justice for Clover. After all, this is the only way they get to walk out, to go home.

The ingame stats are probably the ones they would have in a neutral emotional state,but as they are made of magic,their feelings are reflected in how hard they hit you and how hard they get hit. It's the same way LOVE works. You do not really get stronger once you kill monsters,it just gets easier to kill whitout feeling,and as such you get stronger. You feel less,qnd as such you get harder to hit. Same gpes for monsters. If they want to kill you they get stronger,and vice versa

Like for example if they gave Mettaton Neo a high defense stat what would it do to the game if suddenly you couldn't one-shot a normally one-shottable character? Defenses and Attacks in codes are made to stabilize the fight. Not because "LOOK THIS IS THE TRUTH, GAME LIED TO YOU!". I am a programmer and coder I know this because I tried to make some games-(I am a failure) so it might be cause of weird math in the code so your fight would be stabilized. If you go with Chara's path, Defenses will decrease for monsters but for you it would increase so to show how strong you're get. What about sans' 1 defense, maybe Toby Fox was lazy about it but or maybe you just increased your attack enough, so sans' Defense not decreased. Idk maybe like that. I used this system many times.

As other people in the comments have stated, Asgore’s Check Stats are likely a reflection of what he's capable of when he isn't holding back. His stats in the code are much lower because he wants to give Frisk a fighting chance. That being said, I would like to see someone go into the code and replace Asgore’s ATK and DEF with 80, just to see how difficult his fight would be if he wasn't holding back.

its canon that asgore does have 80 atk and defense, but lots of signs in waterfall state that the damage a monster takes/recieves is entirely dependant on the intent of the attacker. if the attacker wants to hurt you, you will take more damage. hense why toriel asks "you really hate me that much?" because the only way to one shot a monster is if you REALLY want to kill them hense, asgore didnt want to kill the human in undertale, so he did less damage. you can see how OP he'd be if he wanted to hurt you in Undertale Yellow

I'm talking as a hobbyist gamedev with also not greatest english, there are always something in games that they hide from you or lie about. As I understand the meaning of word "lie", in Undertale it's not a lie about Mettaton Neo or Asgore, because as you said it is needed to be sure that you one shot them. If code stats were same is visual, then Tobby would just make a string, where if you hit Neo, your damage will become about 10 millions. You'd better thank Tobby that he didn't made healing mechanic for enemies, so they restore their hp while you can't see it
