Let's go with an opposite with ground types next. Like with flying types in the older games, they're often seen as mandatory on a team and there's plenty of good options in every region.

I just finished a monotype Flying run in FireRed. I used almost the exact same team mentioned in this video, using Dragonite instead of Dodrio. One of the best teams I’ve ever used.

Yeah corviknight is great. It's a steel type and learns power trip and hone claws pretty much immediately as a rookidee.

opinion: despite how good it is regardless, i would wait till gen 6 and beyond for Togekiss strictly because starting with XY, togekiss is Fairy/Flying. gaining the Fairy type makes togekiss exponentially stronger plus starting in XY (excluding BDSP SV and SWSH)TMs are reusable unlike HGSS and Platinum so you can confidently teach Togekiss TM moves without having to feel like you have to choose. while i cant argue you can still get top value out of it in HGSS (if you want to wait that late for the shiny stone) and get use out of its 120 special attack (according to Serebii). in HGSS and DPP, Togekiss is simply normal flying because the Fairy type didnt exist yet. while i Togekiss is still helpful considering you get its egg fairly early in HGSS, i think having it know dazzling gleam pushes it ahead of its pre gen 6 self

I have one big problem with all these teams: Gyarados. Sure, it's a great Pokémon, but that's because it doesn't take advantage of its Flying-type STAB. And in a mono-Flying team, is it right to call Gyarados a great Flying-type when it never uses its Flying STAB to begin with? Also, for HGSS? Honchkrow is right there, too. Or at least Murkrow is.
