The fact that Rebecca Romijin brought her own movement to Mystique so much so the other actors were able to imitate it when they had to play themselves as Mystique as themselves is incredible. Like besides the badass character she’s such an underrated actress. I miss when films were more cinematic, that’s what stands x1-3 apart from other superhero films these days.

For Jennifer they made a body suit because she had skin reactions from the make up applied. She only had her face made up. Whereas Rebecca had make up on her whole body. And yes, you are right, Rebecca was a better mystique and looked better.

Rebecca Romijn's protrayal of Mystique was the best, by far. Maybe her past as a model gave her a physical elegance and awareness of her body that Jennifer Lawrence just didn't seem to have.

I like how they avoided doing the morph effect with Trask cause Peter Dinklage's hieght would've been really difficult to do for the transition effect. They would've had to move the entire camera down while he was transforming which would mess up the VFX a bit. Also I kinda wish the VFX artist's had given physics to her hair. Like in Captain Marvel, the Skrulls would transform and their hair would fall into place as if it grew during the transformation, for Mystique kinda just appears.

Growing up watching the movies I liked how mystique didn’t really have any “superpowers” other than shape shifting. She was a great fighter, knew a bunch of smart stuff, just overall better than anyone else. (No one hate on me!)

Fun fact mystique power is so powerful that there’s an episode on X men Evolution I believe and in that episode there’s a force that upgrades mutants abilities like apocalypse did in the movie and that force upgraded Mystique power so when she was changing to different mutants she was also able to use they abilities.

She can change her body but not her scent.” And that was established since his nose sniffed out Mystique posing as Storm; his nose tipped him off of that fake Storm. Different situations and aspects, Logan is not in love with Storm, therefore he has no reason to let his guard down, according to their particular situation Logan was on the alert knowing that there was a shapeshifting mutant around, on the other hand Logan is in love with Jean, and when she approaches him, everything else disappears in front of him, furthermore their situation was also one of tranquility, a relaxing situation, no enemies are allies, therefore Logan had no reason to be on the lookout. So yes, the nose can also know it, but when he sees Jean, he doesn't care, he trusts his eyes, not his sense of smell.

Only other humans and their clothes/accessories. It MIGHT be psychological and based on vision. Like Nightcrawler can only teleport to places he has seen, Mystique can only turn into a person she has seen. I gave Nightcrawler example because in some versions they’re mother and son, so their powers might be working on similar rules, but not confirmed in the movies.
