Mystique and Destiny being lovers was an interesting update in the X-Men franchise and this should’ve really been like a Color Purple story with Mystique being taken in by Destiny and being seen a childhood friend who would become complete sisters by their adulthood. Mystique relationships with other characters would come after separating herself from Destiny and deciding to explore the world with Mystique meeting SaberTooth during her time under the Weapon Plus Project and Azazel during her teenage years. Destiny Diaries story should’ve really seen Mystique joining alongside the X Men to find the Thirteen Stories wanting to protect them from enemies using these diaries for nefarious deeds.
