@diehardcowboys3 ай бұрын
This is my subjective opinion. Pan’s freestyle technique stands out from the usual styles seen in the past 20-30 years. Unlike the high-octane, windmill-like freestyle or the hybrid style with high elbows and shoulder rotation, Pan's technique features lower elbows and a faster stroke rate. His arms sweep lower, resembling butterfly stroke drills, and his shoulder rotation is less pronounced. This approach allows for quicker pull cycles, consistent elbow angles, and powerful kicks, resulting in less splash and a more hydrodynamic performance. Pan's unique technique contrasts with traditional styles, offering a fresh take on sprint freestyle swimming.

Just for good measure, since no western media or youtuber will tell you the full story of what happened in 2021 which led to all this fury, here it goes. In 2021 China swimming association held a national gathering of all swimmers in competitive level in a single city. While the swimmers were there, the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) tested all the swimmers 3 times during the event. They found 23 swimmers with trace amounts of TMZ in 1 of their 3 tests. They promptly started an investigation which determined that the reason why only 1 of their 3 tests were positive was because all 23 of these swimmers were staying at the same hotel. They checked the kitchen and found trace amounts of TMZ in the meat, in the kitchen countertop and vent hood. All this was promptly reported to WADA. Then WADA did 2 separate investigations of their own which confirmed what was found by CHINADA. So to recap, 1) it was not WADA that did the test but CHINADA, if China wanted to cover it up, they simply could have not reported it at all. No one would be the wiser. 2) The TMZ was found in trace amounts and only in their blood test after that meal. Their initial blood tests were completely clear. No swimmers who stayed at other hotels tested positive. 3) Pan Zhanle, the 100m swimmer and current world record holder, was NOT amongst those 23 swimmers. He was only 16 years old then. This whole thing was not an issue until the NY Times dug it up and made a stink. Then USADA got US congress involved (not sure why since they don't have jurisdiction).

He replied that when he was young he watched a lot of classic swimmers (didn't say who) to learn how to be efficient and streamline and precise, and he things he is still far behind those classic greats. Then in the olympics, he saw other athletes and a little surprised to find they are even less skillful than he is, and his win proves that skill can trump over raw power.

They didn't get banned because of one swimmer in particular. Plus EVERYONE had them at the 2008 olympics legit just watch a video and you'll see everyone in them. They were upgraded in 2009 from 50% polyurethane to 100% polyurethane. Some swimmers like michael phelps and others who were partnered with speedo couldn't wear the newest suits because of brand deals. Speedo only had the 50% one at this point giving companies like arena and jaked a HUGE advantage. 40+ world records were broken in the 2009 world championships mostly due to the suit zhang lin being one of them. Zhang lin was in his prime and an extremely accomplished distance freestyler at the time. Him breaking the world record was no surprise. But, due to the obvious disparity in the suits and how they fitted better on to certain swimmers "bodytypes" they were banned in 2010. Since then the suit market has been fairly even.

Look and Pans technique vs the France swimmer. Perfect technique no wasted movement and strokes, pure motor and just shows the dedication and hard work the Chinese put behind to perfect the form. The French swimmer has so much wasted movement and strokes off balance and just slapping the water like a fool basically fish out of water while Pan is like cutting through the water.

Before the Olympics, Pan did an interview in China. He told the interviewer that he actually can beat his WR in Doha with a bit of improvement on this technique. He told the reporter not to show this interview before his Olympics race so that it will be a smoke bomb for the other teams so that they thought his best time is 46.80.

Thanks for the professional analysis to let people understand how good he is. Btw, I suggest you check out his Chinese interview. That idiot Australian coach said that the return trip is not possible to be faster. Oops Sorry, Pan has been doing this kind of chasing training all the time. Why? because he always swim faster than others, so he would start few second late and chase teammates for training. He also said there is still room to improve cuz this pool is not easy to swim. He is a humble and very hardworking young man, and he himself believes he will be faster with more training.

Fares, this analysis was beautiful but I'd point out something between Lezak/Barnard in 2008 and Pan's race here - the main reason Lezak was able to draft off of Barnard was because Barnard swam against the side of the lane and the wave came through the lane ropes, and Lezak was experienced enough to see it and take adv. of it by swimming as close as possible to Barnard (2nd 50). In the case of Pan, both Manadou/Pan were swimming in the center of their own lane, and the waves created by Manadou may not have been strong enough to go across the lane rope. You can correct me if I'm wrong.

And also some one greater than Usian Bolt will arise and beat his 100 m records. I think we should cut away emotion, politics, race, drug slurs from these athletes and celebrate sports and the human spirit.
