That small lamp with the silver top looks like a Lampe Berger. The lamps were invented by a chemist named Maurice Berger in 1898 and they were used to purify the air in hospitals by capturing and destroying airborne bacteria. The company was sold in 1927 and the new owner used a different type of alcohol in the lamps which had an apple scent...and the rest is history. The lamps eventually became popular in the consumer market and are still sold today. Some of my friends own them and swear by how great they are. They are particular in their use and you can only use the specific oil designed for them. The company has their own site that explains both the history and how to use/maintain the lamps. I bet you could email them with a photo and ask them for information - How fantastic if you have a vintage one!
