He made the same mistake though that lots of actors did - took political sides in a really vocal way. Casting directors, producers, pay attention to "has this person eliminated half the movie-going population who vote?" if the answer is yes, it's a business decision from there. Bob Deniro is another example. It's 100% fine to have political leanings but there are ways to go about it without making film investors become leery to hire you for projects that need to make money - from as many moviegoers as possible.
