Good ideas to consider. I am a singles player, mostly baseliner and sometimes gets talked into playing doubles and one thing I learned is in doubles you need to be EXTREMELY selective, especially from the baseline, on when you go for a really aggressive shot. BEST to hit a shot you CAN make nearly every time. Your #4 idea about big middle, do nothing like a boss, fight the instinct to go for too much, REALLY applies to my personal doubles game, level might be strong 4.0. Let them overhit, or hit a ball the net player can pick off. I really notice most players I play are trying to hit too many "I want to be a hero." shots.

9:26 oh yeah, what a feeling... 😊. Real good tips here. As an amateur it's hard to do nothing, especially when you're loosing, big tentation to overplay (= unforced errors for sure). Neutreulizing the opponenent in order to wait for the good ball is a major key.

Never heard a coach say "don't try to go for the side lines". My last coach drilled our team to go for long shots, close to the side lines as often as possible to enforce pressure. Made me lose many unnecessary points so far. I'll try your approach in the future! Thanks for the nice videos you upload!

I mean, if one has the precision to hit close to the sidelines very consistently without giving away a lot of errors, obviously do so hahah but I think most people are better of playing into safer targets

hey Karue, big fan. one thing that has helped me tremendously in all areas of performance is visualizing before matches. i close my eyes take a couple deep breathes and start visualizing me getting to the site, changing my tourna grip, warming up etc. I then procceed to imagine myself playing very calmly and confidently, antecipating my oponents shots, and having a plan on court always instead of blindly hitting the ball. I see myself excelling in pressure points, playing a great match point and also visualize myself greeting my opponent and tasting the taste of victory right after it. Might look foolish but it has helped me a ton.

Touching on tightest. Convince yourself that you actually prefer feeling tight. And you actually play better when you’re tight and feeling the pressure. Another point is okay the match as a progression. Keeping the score in mind at all time Las about where you are in the match. As if you’re running a long distance, know where you’re at and push accordingly. Always building so you push toward a finishing point with your best level.

That was some gold tips for mental aspect of the game . The doing nothing thing is key when on pressure ( balls that doesn’t give time to “shout” where to strike) it conserves energy because you won’t try over hit the ball and move needlessly (low chance of success)

One tip I kept from Rafa Nadal is to just play every point, no matter if you 0-40 or 40-0, and don't think about the next point before. I also try not to think too much about the "ifs" : "if only I had won that point, I'd be at 3-2", etc. But great tips of yours. I'll try to keep this "do more nothing" as I tend to go for risky winners too often. Also, I didn't know you were Brasilian!

That shot selection tip is crucial: You have the reps. You just habe to trust your body. The less information you have your brain trying to calculate/process the better. (I.e. have your wrist do this, bend your knees, oh yeah but alao make sure youre rotating, and and...) You keep your target simple and specific, your body will figure out the adjustments you visualize. Prerty exhilarating when it feels effortless.

1) anticipate the opponent's shot and split step so you can move quickly to your hitting position (don't hesitate to move back) so you have time choose your shot and go through the ball with your knees bent..you'll quickly turn the point to your advantage vs. pushers..

Great content. In my doubles league, I see players trying to be the hero on the court and two seconds later their balls go out or hit the back of the court. I have asked players like this to go elsewhere because trying to be the boss usually means they lose matches. Consistent & strong strategy wins matches & tournaments.

Awesome video that comes at a perfect time for me after winning for the first time against someone I always lost to. Everything said made perfect sense. Played relaxed, solid on serve, decent on returns, very few mistakes but also played aggressive some times. Good depth always, slow down points when needed, defend like hell and win magically came on its own. I love these videos.

Employed these tips in a Team Tennis format against someone who beat me a couple of weeks ago. I lost in a tiebreak, the wonky let rule, no ad scoring, and first to 5 format wasn’t the best for me :-/. But when I looked at my SwingVision it was clear that I played better than him for the entire match. Thanks again for the help!

The best way to win a match is to be in form, just being a better player, but often you are not because of pressure, timing off, distraction, whatever. That's the reason tennis is tough, just small distraction and you may lose a set quickly.

I want to ask, isn't it better to have a plan for the next 2 shots than to play stroke for stroke. For example I will play a diagonal he will most likely return a diagonal and I will play down the line? Like a game of chess. Or having a little deeper tactics? I mean absolutely you try to be more than 2 steps ahead if possible. But we aren’t teaching pros here, we are teaching 4.0s, 4.5s. The problem with trying to be 2 steps ahead is that you commit to going for a shot that might not be there. The idea might be good but your opponent might not allow you to do it, then you force it and make the error. I do this to players all the time when I anticipate their next move. If let’s say I play a hard cross shot with the goal of going to the open court on the next ball and come to the net and the ball allows me to do it, then yes that worked. But if the ball does not allow for that, I need to chill out, do nothing and wait for the next opportunity

Yes, that's right, for example, if you thought of a situation serve diagonal return diagonal second shot down the line, but your opponent's return is not in the most optimal place to play the ball down the line, then you can change the plan and play diagonal again instead of down the line. This,i think, will help with ball anticipation. For example, if you're practicing and your partner says he's going to hit a diagonal serve and you know that, your reaction is much faster and your shot is easier to execute than if you didn't know where it was going to come. .And for this reason, if you expect your ball to come to a certain place, you will be able to play it better than not expecting anything.Of course, the ball will not always come where you think, but you can always change the plan while the opponent's ball is flying towards you.
