Thank you for posting this! This is a VERY UNDERRATED and UNDERAPPRECIATED soundtrack. This was Marty O'Donnelll's first big soundtrack before Halo.

Holy shit, had no idea it was the halo guy who did this! Makes a lot of sense now that I think of this. I used to play this with my dad when I was, like, 2 years old lol.

I love how hopeless the game manages to make me feel. Even the music for winning a scenario is sad strings instead of a glory fanfare. Yes, we won, some made it out alive, but the sacrifices were dire and we don't even know if it will make any difference in the long run. But there is always a tiny glimmer of hope in there, defetead, full of grief, but hope nontheless.

What a fantastic soundtrack! I absolutely love the game and played it a lot during my childhood. I remember one day, after finishing playing, I happened to check the contents of the CD drive and found some of the songs in the folder. I was amazed by 'The Fallen Lords' track... such a beautiful tune. It brings back great memories. Thank you for posting this.

Myth's worldbuilding and music is so interesting and provocative in a specific way (one which is disturbing yet intriguing and drives me to know more about it)―despite how little of it is shown and how short the OST tracks last. There is a very real beauty in something which is vast in theory but short in its practical appearances. The fear, potential, and imaginative qualities of the _unknown_ create such a powerful tool writers can leverage. It's ironic, because as comsumers we crave constant new knowledge, stimuli, feelings, and experience―but we are only able to enjoy the perfect amount of "unknown" for the brief window where we still don't know enough to be satisfied and move on. Imagination is such a fleeting thing.

Are you familiar with Project Magma? They’ve released a patch which updates Myth II a little and made a version of Myth TFL in Myth 2.

@@Tom-xd3pw for the time it was awesome. I've watched a few lets play retro games and sadly even the reviewers end up mostly no longer liking the game. I think it's best to keep these things as nostalgia. Game design, computing power, graphics, mechanics etc have all moved on. The story, art, and music brings back amazing memories. But I don't want to taint them by replaying it. As a software engineer, I'm in awe at the skill of these old developers. I'm not sure why but we just don't have the same skillset now including me. Multiple people are commenting that we are now in decline in terms of software skill. I'm blown away that rollercoaster tycoon was written by one guy in assembly. That is god tier programming. Myth wrote their own physics engine. Again, amazing skill

@@maxwellflitton3973 "I think it's best to keep these things as nostalgia". We'll agree to disagree. I still play classic games to this day, the main reason being that new games simply don't do it for me. Nowadays the main choice is between indie devs/small studios with no sense for art direction, and large AAA studios that pander to the lowest common denominator. Whenever I play a classic game it takes about 30 seconds to get adjusted to the older graphics. Yes, sometimes the gameplay is not as polished/streamlined as games that come out today, but often there are mods to compensate. And even if I can't get the functionality I want in older games, with what am I supposed to replace classics like Thief, HOMM2, and so on? Abe's Oddysee had a "modern" reboot that totally missed the elements that made the original great. Modern game devs seem to be much less skilled than their peers 25 years ago. "Game design, ... , graphics, mechanics etc have all moved on". Some things are better, many things are definitely worse. I don't play games for nostalgia, otherwise I'd be playing Tetris all day.

Been looking forward to this since the box art in the Marathon vid. Myths been treated as the black sheep of the Bungie back catalogue for years, the last retrospective I saw only really talked about it because of the Myth 2 brick your pc bug on launch, and the rest of the series a misstep they needed to overcome to get back on track, so it's nice to see It get some love. I mean would the green man trilogy be as great without Martin O'Donnell? And Joe Staten actually
