Navigation: Here's a guess where this even comes from: In most countries for a long time there was mandatory military service (also known as conscription). In most countries this was (or is) specific to only men. Part of military training is navigation and reading maps. So, a lot of men were practically forced to learn how to do this properly, while most women were not. So guess how such a myth can come into existence.

I don't think so. I noticed a difference between males and females when I was still in highschool. This was before the days of GPS when you actually needed a map to navigate somewhere new. I think that just like the women bad drivers myth it comes down to the bell curve and the outliers. The worst navigators I have ever seen were women (I'm talking hold the map upside down bad). The only times I have ever been afraid for my life in a car, women were driving. The exceptionally bad experiences in both cases were women and those bad experiences affect how I feel about women in general in similar circumstances. I don't think the average is that far apart for men and women but the really bad examples, at least in my experience are women. Apparently that is also true for a majority of people which is why I think the myth exists.

@peterchristensen88432 ай бұрын
I haven't ever driven a real slalom but certain roads in the US are wide enough for 3 cars to pass side by side. If there is a car parked on both sides of the road every so often, and there are cars coming towards you down the road, you end up having to do a kind of weaving slalom where you go to the side to let the oncoming car pass, then back to the middle to get between the 2 parked cars, and repeat several times.

The data from insurance companies that women are better drivers because they get in less accidents could be skewed because typically, men drive more than women. Most professions like trucking or delivery drivers or police officers are male dominated also usually when couples drive together, the guy is usually the one behind the wheel. Because typically, men in this country spend more time behind the wheel than women the statistics for a male to be in an accident is higher than for females.

3:43 & 17:40 - insurance data may suggest men are the riskier drivers, but how many male drivers are there to female drivers, and how often do men and women drive compared to each other? Hypothetically, if 65% of all drivers are men, and they drive 10 more hours each week than women, then naturally men would be more likely to get into accidents. Alternatively, use an analogy: how often do you hear about women getting hurt in construction site accident? Very rarely, because very few women work in construction.

Is anything really controversial through? I mean, analysing all 5, on average, all make sense just by going with common logic: A) Women realising emotions more - Gotta be obvious. Women had to evolve like that, taking kids into consideration, they had to understand both faster and better how they feel and take care of them. B) Men driving better - Most men I know were driving (yeah, illegally), but ever since they were like 14-17 and onwards. Most women I know on the other hand, first time they drove was when they were getting their licence. And I guess exactly that is what makes men more dangerous. C) Men grilling better - Again, from experience, me and most guys I know were constantly having barbeques. And without home/electric grills, it was always with coal. Girls just wouldn't do that, simple as that. D) Giving directions - Again, makes more sense genetically. Although this is the most debatable one for me. I don't think of some reason nowadays that women would be worse, however both my mom and wife, are totally crap at giving directions. Guess that army could play a role, it's mandatory in Greece and you are trained on that, even if badly. E) Packing the car - It's actually a joke in Greece, that when you were young and were going to a trip, to the beach etc, dad was there packing the car at 5 in the morning while everyone's sleeping. So yeah, that makes sense to me, however, if we're talking about bags, that's quite another story. I think I can pack half of the clothes that my wife can in a bag, and I can't understand what I'm doing wrong either 😁 Overall though, it's just different in every person, simple as that. That's why it's silly in my opinion when people get mad of the comparisons.

in the driving test there was a maximum of 100 points with 79 points for the men (yes, you got that number wrong) and 71 for the women, so a difference of 8 points or 8% of the maximum in the grilling test the maximum is unknown, but I guess from some of the points they showed for some contestants the maximum possible is also 100; anyway the men got 46 points on average with 42 points for the women, so a difference of 4 points or 4% of the maximum if we take my guess of the maximum amount when judging if a statistic is significant or not there are a few thresholds one can take with the weakest being a 5% difference; but then again, when it comes to statistics, the Mythbuster never actually used enough people to actually call any of their tests significant

Wait. The whole thing was that men were better than women at all of these. If the men did not win, then they lost. So the scores was actually 3 to 2 in favor of women.

@@Adrak-Hiano So everyone is calling the IOC Nazis for having gendered events at the Olympics right now in Paris? Because that is the worlds largest demonstration that there are differences between men and women. And I don't hear any groups denouncing the Olympics on those grounds. None that have a voice outside their own echo chamber anyway. Gender equality isn't about saying that men and women are equal in every measurable way. Thats absurd and anyone suggesting it is a moron. Its about granting equal rights, opportunity, consideration, etc. So that more men can be nurses, or not be the primary income earning for their family, or get equal custody of their children after a divorce. I'd cite examples for women, but the list of disadvantages they face in society is a mile longer than that for men.

@@dgthe3 except men can play in women sports if they say they are women. Except there can't be gender equality because biology. Except women don't have more issues than men, they just face different issues.

@@dgthe3 The IOC isn't explicitely saying men and women are different. Unlike this video. A part of the lgbt movement criticises vehemently the binary nature of sports, calling opponents transphobes. And even if they are just a vocal minority, the political climate is clearly in their favor. For the rest I completely agree. But you're sadly having way too much faith in peoples's abilities to not be morrons.. Also, the list of diasadvantages might be a mile longer for women than for men in the US, but in Europe it is far from being as clear cut.

The hell are you talking about? Its easy to define a woman, and to define a man. Whats difficult is to craft such definitions that put 100% of the population into only those two categories & not have unusual cases in either one.
@Adrak-Hiano4 ай бұрын
@@dgthe3 Agreed, it IS easy to define the two genders. But there are lots of videos of people, professors etc, stuttering when asked to define whats a man and a woman. Because they know the mafia will call them transphobic bigots if they say it's related to testosterone levels or chromosomes.
