The fact that the dangers of cable whip got busted seasons later is one of the best full circle moments of this show

Adam calling Jamie "Hynie" (21:16) is the cutest thing I've ever heard

"I reject your reality and substitute my own." When you think about it that line is very Orwellian.

its kinda adam's slogan

I'd forgotten the precise origin of that line. 😏

Season 1 is just the best

I love the early seasons, but I think 3 or 4 is the sweet spot for me. Perfect combination of finding their feet with how the show works but still being new and interesting.

I wouldnt say the best, but it sure has its charm. No B team, only Adam and Jamie handling the myth + the storytelling from that research lady and just the way its filmed, showing off little moments. Its clear they hadnt yet figured it out, yet nailed it very damn well.

There's something *very* understandable about "well, we went in for one thing, and we found it, but this extra crap..."

Explosive decompression is well documanted, what they failed to simulate is the aircraft travelling at 400+ MPH.

For those curious about the bullet-as-a-fuse myth, this same story was read by the comedian Lewis Black as part of a series of jokes centered around then-president Bill Clinton. He gave a few jokes as he read it, some spoken and some mimed, the most notable (to me at least) being: "Well, imagine that, a Billy Ray was involved," miming shocked and suppressed laughter after reading the segment of the bullet discharging ("...the bullet apparently overheated," [shocked face, fingers covering mouth], "discharged and struck Poole in the left testicle," [aforementioned miming]), and "The vehicle swerved sharply to the left... as would be expected." You can find his bit in one of his three half-hour mini-specials from _Comedy Central Presents,_ the second one specifically, which was made in the year 2000. One last detail, the story supposedly occurred near the town of Cotton Plant, Arkansas - and yes, it is indeed a real town in Arkansas, and that actually is its name. Take that for whatever you will.

With the airplane myth, they completely missed the point that it is NOT the difference in air pressure that counts. It is the suction of the air RUSHING over the whole. Think of it like blowing air over the top of a bottle. The air flowing over it literally sucks out the air in the bottle, creating a low pressure zone in the bottle. I am not saying, that this would ultimately change the results, but the test - as performed in this video - is just testing something irrelevant to the myth.

Doesn't that electrical actuation of the trigger constitutes legally a machinegun?
