Hah, yeah, it's all about displacement, because you can still pull a water repellant balloon underwater, which according to their physics would have been impossible. They should've busted it before they got started, or redo the trick and explain how they replicated it, just to make them happy by letting them do the trick, but that would've been against the formula of the show i guess.
@randomprotag93294 ай бұрын
@@Games_and_Music it does go against the point to not even start, the point of the show is to show the busting myths even if the one they are doing should be obviously busted.
@Games_and_Music4 ай бұрын
@@randomprotag9329 I know, but i meant more like, Adam and Jamie showing themselves doing the trick, and then going back and show to the audience how they got there. But yeah, that is more of a magic trick explanation kind of show. They love to "science" things, and the water repellant argument is just "bad science". With that logic, if you spray water repellant on a stone, it wouldn't get wet at all and you can skip it across the ocean. But yeah, if they started busting those parts already, then it just becomes almost ubiquitously impossible and futile to even keep going at it, let alone scaling it up. I laughed and enjoyed watching the episode though, so don't get me wrong, but it was clearly a filler myth, or an excuse to do the trick themselves.

Even completely ignoring the obvious physics angle, people really need to learn how to spot fake videos; they all have the same awkward and unnatural acting, editing, and camera work. Rather than looking like every other amateur video out there, they look like film student 101 emulations of hollywood movies. It stands out like a sore thumb, especially the snap zooms and forced shaky cam that are plugins half the time. I think reality TV messed up an entire generation... it blurred the lines and took away people's ability to spot a production.

@Games_and_Music4 ай бұрын
Yeah, even in the thumbnail you can see where the platform ends (the little eddy/flat spot in the water right in front of them). And the curved run up is solely to accommodate the distorted camera angle, to have the runner and the water in the same shot, as it doesn't make any sense to introduce centrifugal force to a "running straight out over water" ability, if anything it should reduce the effectiveness by being less stable and having less forwards momentum. It's not like they're mimicking skipping stones, because then he should be spinning around fatally fast, it's just fake all around, but it does look like fun.

running on water doesn't work, but you can make an illusion that you run on water for 3-4 steps. instead of a fast runner, you need a long jumper. basically what you do is make a jump before you hit water, but you manipulate your body and feet in a way that it appears that you're still running, but actually it's the jump that keeps you "flying". you should get 3-4 steps out of it when done by a professional. those "viral" clips were obviously fake, they had some acrylic underwater

That waterwalking video is so fake, it makes absolutely no sense for them to suddenly sink when they're going the same speed and running the same way, that cutoff just isn't logical. The Jesus lizard can do it because of its light weight, big bendy feet and spreading the weight directionally from left to right, instead of straight forward like regular walking. I'm pretty sure Mythbusters tried the Jesus lizard way at some point, because i thought that it was this episode, but i guess the other waterwalking episode was about ninja myths. Jamie was cracking me up at the beginning though, the "you know me, i'm right there", "It may not look like it, but this is me stretching, getting all pumped up and in the zone". EDIT: Oh, nevermind, it is this episode, hah, i was too early with this comment. (actually no, i was picturing them at a pool and Adam wearing some tennis racket like shoes, and wooden flippers or something, which i guess were ninja tools or something) 29:23 Really?... wow, this is season 7 and she still thinks 3 pounds of C4 (OUTSIDE of the car) will blow a car away?? @@ichiroutakashima4503 Yeah, i personally also always liked season 4 most, although i can't really put my finger on why. It seems it is still "raw" enough in 4, before the production changes, even though there's still a couple of clunkers in that season as well, and i do really like some of the later season episodes as well. It's only since i've been watching them on this channel that i've seen the majority of viewers also say that they liked season 4 the most as well, so i guess it is universal.

Yeah, water already isn't known to be very walkable, and regular walking already is a kind of fall/land motion to begin with, it does not help to add more momentum to that. But they seemed to eventually ignore the reflex to jump when crossing into the water, but yeah, it's obviously impossible to do with just our plain feet anyway.

@@Games_and_Music a sudden burst,with short,fast steps,combined with plastic flaps on the side of the shoes would be my best guess
@Games_and_Music4 ай бұрын
@@TommyPrins Yeah, in an ideal situation i also picture "speed and power", which i can't help but hear in Jeremy Clarkson's voice. But "realistically", it would be something only the Flash could do. I'm not sure if we would need flaps (i assume that means something that can bend), as i think that we're too heavy and slow by ourselves to make use of bendy parts. Considering we also need to move at really high speeds, maybe something more rigid would do better in that situation. Maybe inflatable shoes with a smaller footprint with equal "buoyancy" that the flaps could have, it would be cumbersome either way. I could swear that they've tried these things somewhere else as well. But yeah, the lizard also moves like a water wheel, the feet point sideways and scoop into the water to get purchase, because it can overcome the weight/surface ratio that we lack with our strength. The tail keeps it upright, which also allows it to keep scooping his feet, and it's basically in freefall while running, because a lizard cannot walk upright without using its tail anyway, although some people believe in lizard people.. It distributes its own weight more widely, our legs are too close to each other to spread the weight efficiently like the lizard does. Obviously, we don't have the hips of a lizard to do proper wheel motions. Our natural way of running is like a circle saw in comparison to that. I really don't see a realistic way for it to be possible with human strength alone, especially without any modifications. Our shoes would need to be like 20feet, sticking out to the left and right, distributing our weight sideways perfectly, but somehow not adding any weight and also be extremely durable and rigid. If possible, we would look like stretched out water wheels, really wide pointy shoes, which would be ridiculous.

I think they might become too "sticky" with all that surface on the water, and they might get full of water as well, making them more heavy. It might work a little better if they ditch the running altogether and basically try to use them as water skis or skates, but yeah, that's not what the myth was about. Or, keep them as they were, but adding vents in the back to maybe disperse a bit of the air pocket, to make it feel less like you're standing on a slippery air bubble (like the tail might be doing, adding a little drag to keep them stable), and also make them less sticky, by using the air inflow to push the water out when pulling them loose to make a next step. Then again, it probably looks more like walking on quicksand, when the one leg that wants to go up pushes the other leg down without ever really breaking loose, until you're stuck all the way. It needs a LOT more speed and power, as Jeremy Clarkson would say.

In my opinion the running on water was achieved by placing something they were running across just below the water level, like a plank or plexi glass slabs. The only creature larger than insect i ever heard of running on water was a lizzard ( i think it was called basilisk). By running fast enough and the feet being large enough, it was just enough for the lizzard to make it. Humans are way too heavy for this, so the video was fake.
