Shinigami are portrayed a bit like that TV show, Dead Like Me. They take the souls of people who are about to die, but they are not gods, merely the Reapers of the Dead. They don’t get a free ride, they have to try to hold down jobs, while also making time to reap a soul, here and there. I am surprised that premise has not been used in an anime.

Very interesting video ❤ I love the stories of izanami no mikoto and some Japanese myths she is the mother of the current Kami-sama that are venerate in Japan. Her husband Izanagi no mikoto also guards the entrance of the underworld or yomi where she dwells. Enma has been identified at times with one of their sons Susanoo no mikoto. Who asked his father Izanagi no mikoto to join with his mother Izanami. This is found in Koijiki and Nihongo. Shinigami I think appear as male and female. And depending on a person being drawn to good or bad they can be beautiful or terrifying. That's my opinion of course. Great video 👍
