🤨 excuse me, sir/madam... you fail to realize that no less than 100% of all people that promote the Confederate flag are, in fact, die-hard Dukes of Hazard fans. Exactly zero individuals view the confederate flag as a symbol of white supremacy or black suppression, it’s all in honor and recognition of a TV show main character; the car known as the General Lee that those rascally Duke boys drove around causing shenanigans and mischief all over Hazard county To silence the symbol of their beloved orange car with the oh-so slide overable hood and welded shut doors would be the same as Culture Canceling the Flintstones because it “reenforced the outdated head of household male stereotype”. Sure Wilma and Betty had a voice, but Fred and Barney typically got their way while the women in the show were usually depicted doing housework, raising children and held Secretary-level jobs... but that doesn’t mean that it promoted misogyny... Think of all the Duke’s of Hazard fans that you’d be ostracizing and ~discriminating against~... which again, is 100% of all people that fly the Confederate flag ever... by denouncing the Confederate flag... - said everyone that is completely blind to the big picture

Imagine saying goodbye to a family member and never seeing them again. There are many great things about our country, true, but our nation needs radical change. They'll find something trite and good-news-y to focus on, like the fact that there were no school shootings in March. Except that's neither true (there were) or good (because removing "school" from "school shootings" isn't a solution). Only it won't be that, because that'd be pandemic-adjacent. But they'll find something. It'll be something that was poorly researched, objectively false, and spun in a way to sound uplifting.

British East India Conservative for the Tula massacre, the key word is alleged. He was accused of doing something. the man was accused of assaulting a white woman. White women in this country have a history of using their power to inflict harm on black men ie Amy cooper. That ACCUSATION does not justify the massacre of 300 black people and the destruction of their prosperous town. Your confirmation bias is showing

I went to Robert E. Lee High School in Fairfax, Virginia, named in 1958 out of spite against the state’s decision to force integration of schools after Brown v. Board, as was nearby JEB Stuart High in 1959 (now Justice HS). It’s no secret that the areas that these high schools served were mostly non-white when they were founded, and they remain primarily non-white today. I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere else for high school, but the name remains a stain on the community, the state, and the nation, and ought to be changed. My commencement speaker (the school board member at-large) even referenced this in his speech. References to school board minutes and local papers can be found on the school’s Wikipedia page.

lol the same sensitive view of the confederate flag could be used towards the US flag you realize that? I mean, you can spin the entire US existence on colonialization, slavery and genocide....tear town all monuments. they're a testament of intolerant past. get rid of all buildings they were build by slaves, destroy the railroads they were built by the chinese. I mean, if we're at it, might as well abandon the US entirely, go back to Europe, and allow the natives to reclaim the entire US....if we're going to be super sensitive about every thing.

But it didn't sit well with me that they were causing so much pain. I do understand now where it comes from and I hope they recycle the metals to form freedom and equality statues. I hope the tipping of the scales will happen in favour of equality for all male, female, non-binary, black, white, caramel, heterosexual, homosexual, etc. Equality for all.
