After spending a few days hanging out with Neptune I noticed a few things that I think were affected by redesign. The fins and shoulders look like they should have been flushed but where blocked and the side panels on the chest had plastic added to keep them from folding in. In my opinion I think this was done to prevent breakage of the yellow posts. Sorry hard to explain without images. Great video! Thanks

I'm just commenting about the "FansToys bias" idea. You've always been very honest about how your preferences aren't going to be everyone's, even though some things are objective. I think X-Transbots doesn't get enough credit, although its rep has been hurt by qc issues. I am bothered by recent FansToys transformations, and I'm with you that their Dinobots represent a kind of sweet spot. But hey, I buy most of what FansToys produces, and I know I'll get a quality figure. I appreciate your point of view and your honesty, and I'm glad you don't sweat the haters (or people who don't get a point you made clear) too much. Keep up the good work, man!

Crazy thing is, Spindrift isn't that off for the Classic scale and I've been using him as mine for awhile now. He scales with the original Deluxe minibots (Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Warpath) as well as all of the iGears offerings. Solid vs review!

Weirdly, Seaspray was one of my favorite toys as a kid. I just gave my original to my daughter to play with and she is taken with him too. The XTB is well done but I will never part with my Spindrift. One of my favorite figures in my collection. I love the heroic look and I especially appreciate his action figure quality. Much higher value for me personally than simply looking toon accurate. I would definitely pick up the XTB for the alt mode though, looks very nice.

Yeah, agree on all counts. I have a feeling that Neptune may be directly responsible for Spindrift v2. btw, I hope you revisit this whenever that v2 comes out. It would be interesting to see if Neptune retains the crown or if FT can really make the adjustments necessary to snatch the Seaspray crown away.

I think you should have considered one more category in comparison, especially for these figures. The category of what Seaspray himself thought. I was disappointed when you didn’t receive a phone call in the single Neptune review like you did the other Seaspray reviews. But oh well. Very good comparison review. I agree wholeheartedly. Spindrift seemed like a quick FansToys cash grab compared to their other figures. Thanks for the video!

My general rule is that the most recent figure SHOULD be much better than the previous Spindrift 2.0 will be much better than Neptune because they can improve in things. Interesting that this comparison pits xtb best release against ft worst release. On patreon I agree with your theory that even though Neptune is great xtb as a whole is still missing “something”. Glad everyone who got this loves this but for me the proportions are off. He isn’t chubby just a skinny guy with a beer belly. Good video

Its almost like they swapped designers and factories. Did anybody think X-Transbots would win in a paint category? Fanstoys usually kills it in comparison to other 3rd party figures. I have the Fanstoys version and I got the X-Transbots in my POL at BBTS. Can wait to swap in Neptune. Any chance of doing an update video with Springer when X-Transbots brings out their version. What would that make 5 versions? That would be a crazy video. Excellent work as usual.

If Xtb had used the correct light blue color, their paint would have been a bigger plus. Instead they did G2 metallic darker blue. Maybe FT's second one will do the right color blue for G1

I have the FT Spindrift, but I have to agree, that the XTb looks better. I must, however, say I don't like how in order to stabilize the arms/head the XTb fig rellies on those two flaps behind the arms to stay tabbed in. Also, I worry that over time the XTb will become floppy at the waist; since it utilizes friction at a double jointed center bar; the one that allows for a double direction ab crunch.

I got Neptune wave 1 and happy I got it when I did. Oh let's not forget accessories, their amazing!!. My only gripe is they don't release bots enough.....I've been waiting on their springer forever faithfully.

I haven’t even seen the full video yet… but I had to pause the video & leave a quick post to this… but I have to disagree with you Bob & have to say that TLJ DID inpact the fandom a bit. Each movie that they’ve released since TFA has progressively gotten worse. By itself I don’t think that TLJ ruined the brand, but it didn’t help. I think the major problem is that there are a bunch of people running the show, but don’t know what they’re doing. I do think that there’s some fandom fatigue… I think that there’s some truth to that. I love my prime rib… but if I had to eat it 5x a week for several weeks on end… I wouldn’t want to touch it for a while. I think that there’s an element here with that. But I think that the people that are OKing the content that they’re releasing don’t know the hell they’re working with. And it shows. The bones are there for something very special. So I’m not directly knocking the newer films… but the content sucks. And that’s what’s turning people off. I’m an OT guy myself. That’s my SW… frankly… I think that was the best done in regards of all the trilogies. The PT wasn’t bad… but poorly executed. It actually had a good plot/story line, but I think that Lucas was resting too much on his name rather putting some extra elbow grease into the films. I think where they lacked was in the writing & some of the acting. Some of the actors that he cast I don’t think were good for the part… & what he should’ve done with the dialog is turn it over to someone else that is a better script writer… & let them spit polish the general idea of what he wanted to do. That’s what he did with the OT films, & that’s why they were as good as they were. If he didn't do that... I don't think they would've come out as well. He’s very visual… good with coming up with visual concepts… but has a hard time smoothly articulating it in film when left to his own devices. The thing with these new movies… it has none of that. I remember when I was younger that fan fiction was often looked as something poorly written… or something kinda cheesy… but you know that things are pretty bad when somebody can write something that has better content… a more engaging story… characters that you can relate with than the actual company that owns the rights. That’s the punchline to this. And why the fandom has petered off a little bit. It's pretty sad when the fans do a better job than Disney. It’s like this thing with Phase 4 with the MCU. I got a feeling that it’s not going to last that much longer. Especially if they go with the more current material that they use in the comics. The reason why the Marvel films have done so well is because they’ve been using material from the 80’s to about the early 2000’s … but if they start making films based on what they’re publishing now… I gotta feeling that their gonna tank. Or the lack of interest that you see with the newer SW stuff. Both Marvel & DC are now talking about ending the publication of their characters in print because they sales are so poor. What does that tell you? It’s like this thing with Thor… I’m not against female heroes… spiritually stronger women… but I remember the comic begin very poorly written. So I don’t have much hopes for the film. It might be actually pretty good… but I don’t have much hopes for it because I don’t think that the director is very good. Him trolling the fandom I thought was in poor taste & stupid, but a lot of the films that he has done I've found to be very unmemorable. And being disrespectful to the fans that will be paying your paycheck is a stupid move. Which I think has repeatedly happened with SW & shows with reception that it receives. I do think that there’s an element of the transgender movement in regards to the strong push to promote characters like Thor (Jane Foster) & Captain Marvel. Making a male character female. I actually like seeing more female heroes on screen, but a lot of them I don’t like how they’re portrayed. They're not like real people. I don’t even like how they portray Black Widow because she’s kinda pale compared to what she’s like in the older comics. ½ the time they’re 2 dimensional & nothing to emotionally invest in. Like I said I don’t know if it’s part of the push for transgenderism… but if kinda feels like it. In psych they call it ‘nudging’. It’s like most people don’t realize that King’s “The Shining” is actually a story about pedophilia or incest & not about a boy seeing ghosts. It’s so subtle that people don’t realize it. I don’t want to go down that road because I don’t want people to think that I’m strange… but just pointing it out. What’s happening to SW now is what happened to TF’s back in the 80’s post movie. The series didn’t last longer than 6 months… & it was done here. And the thing is the newer characters that they introduced weren’t bad I thought… but the writing was HORRIBLE. (a) They changed too much & lost the fandom that way, but (b) the writing sucked. I think that’s what killed G1 back in the day. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen it, but the Headmaster series for example blew the 3rd & 4th seasons out of the water. Not saying that the Headmaster series had it's problems... but if they went with that instead of what they released, it would’ve lasted a lot longer. SW is a little different… but it kinda fits into that same situation… Long rant done! :P

Knock out vid as usual Bob! Being honest with you… I’m not sure that I’m even going to get FT’s 2.0 because I’m quite content with my XTB Spray. I normally get 2 of each figure (1 for show, 1 for blow), & from what I’ve seen just with pictures… I don’t see anything to justify spending another $120-130 for a character that I kinda sorta don’t need. XTB Spray kind of fills that hole in my MP collection for that character. I normally always get FT stuff just because of the fact that the quality that they put out is so damn good… for what I’ve gotten… I just don’t think that I need another. This is just my personal opinion, but I think that FT kind of missed the boat (pardon the pun) & is a $1 short & a day late on this. Things might have been a little different if they released this a little bit earlier… but I think that they waited a little too long on this. But that’s my 2 cents!

I got a feeling that Skywalker’s going to come out, it going to do fairly well in the theaters… but it’s not going to do great. It’s not going to be 1 of those movies that people want to watch later down the road, & I doubt that they’re going to release on disk over & over again because the demand will be so high. There will be a lot of hype propping it up… but it’s gonna kinda come & go without a bang & leave with a whimper. I don’t see as much talk about it like there was with the older films. And I’m included the PT in that as well. So not just including the OT when I say that. People are talking about it… but it feels like they’re just not as ‘interested as they used to. There’s talk… but it’s flat. It’s like a guy talking about a girl that he had a crush on that’s now crushed now because his heart is broken… & found out that she’s 'nasty.’ I’m thinking of other words to use… but keeping it clean! :P I get the impression that a lot more people would be glad to see it done. Not that they dislike SW, they just don’t like what they’re doing with it. SW is 1 of those brands that will always be around… but I think the enthusiasm for it has kinda fizzled out because of mismanagement. Most kids that I know aren’t into SW. At least the newer stuff. The thing that I look at is the resell of the merch. When something comes out… there will always be a large/small percent that will buy that ‘item’… but I judge the value of a franchise by how well it sells for 2nd hand. Unless the series is god awful, selling toys to that franchise isn’t always impossible. But defines it’s popularity is it’s ability to withstand the test of time. The thing that I’m looking at is this past X-Mas I bought a lot of vintage 12 inch dolls off of eBay. All in great shape. The Chewie that I have… the rubber band that held his arms together had rotted out… so that needs to be restrung… but all the figures… even though loose… looked like they came straight out of the box. Not played with or showed wear from years of love. Very nice looking figures. I got 7 of them including shipping for less than $90. Up maybe 5 years ago, even damaged, depending on the figure would’ve gone for $70-80 each. Maybe more or less depending on the doll… but I’ve never seen them go that low. Even the 1’s that I’ve seen that have been beat to hell & are missing everything used to sell for $15-20. So to me that was kind of a mind blower. And this isn’t case with me getting lucky because I see this a # of times within the last year on certain SW stuff. Apart from maybe from some the vintage ships (which is kinda a give or take depending on the ship), some of the Legacy stuff & vintage collection figures are the 1’s that do well. Some of the Black stuff resells for a decent price… but even some of that is starting to go down. And even if you do sell it… sometimes you have to have it up for months before it sells. So that’s what I’m looking at. I’ve never seen any of this stuff sell this poorly before. It might jump up a little bit before the movie comes out, but I’ve never seen it do this poorly. Some of the Black stuff sells for $15… depending on the figure… but I’ve gotten a few the last few months for a few bucks because no 1’s bidding. Some characters are more popular than others… so I understand that some will go more than others… it’s like no 1’s biting. I just bought a Lego X-Wing (set 75218) which I think came out a few months ago for a project that I’m working on… it’s complete… but I paid $30 for it. And that goes for $80 still sealed. That’s what I’m looking at. I think what’s going to happen with the current trilogy is that it’s going to end with a groan rather a breathless wow. Disney always puts a a positive spin on a negative situation, so even if it doesn’t do well… they’re going to defend it as best as they can. Again SW isn’t disappear… but they have kind of messed it up. It’s like I don’t know if you’ve seen this… but they’ve been trying to relaunch both Buck Rodgers & M.A.S.K. Fact is there was talk of doing a M.A.S.K movie last year… but each time that they’ve tried to relaunch the series it keeps falling on it’s face because of content. A part of me would love to see either of these series come to life… especially with the SFX that they have these days… but if you don’t have a good story to go along with the movie… it’s not going to work. So in a way I’m glad they haven’t done anything with them. Again… I’m sorry about the long post… but I can’t video reply… & sometimes you can’t say all of it in a short paragraph. Sorry, Uncle Skullface, Last Jedi was complete crap. It didn't fix or steer the problems of Ep7 and it gave nothing to look forward to in Ep9, and that's while creating a ton of internal problems of its own. It made money now. So did the transformers film franchise. It's not going to age well, and it's not going to sell merch 10 years from now. Except for the legacy stuff including prequels, It's barely selling merch now. Adult or kid, who wants to recreate any of these scenes? There are two types of people: those that hate the last jedi and those that pretend not to. You'll come around. 😁

114crispy no, we can not. This channel will be focusing on both franchises. They’ll only really cross on sit down Saturday so if you’d like you can feel free to skip those. Or all of it if that is what you’d prefer. But I’m enjoying doing it, and ultimately that all the really matters at the end of the day in regards to the channel. :)

If "feel" just based on weight in your video? Because weight is false quality. Look at Ace Hiccups and Tumbler. They're both heavy as heck and terrible quality toys.
