Fun Fact: DOSBox has lots of graphical issues with Windows 95. Windows 3.1 on the other hand has almost no graphical issues. I installed it on my Wii before and it didnt have any graphical issues. If you want to ""upgrade"" your Fire TV, Windows 3.1 would be a better option than 95.

as someone who worked in a IT shop when windows 95 was released you had it easy. Upgrading on real hardware at the time with PCs with no updated supported drivers was hell. Internet wasn't what it was to search up tips and help

As a kid in the 90s and 2000s, i've just given up countless times on games that simply would not run, without any clues about how to get them to run. Starting with XP, almost all software would just work in one go - though i always liked win 98se best because somehow it felt more snappy than 'This program is not responding' XP sp1 on PCs from that era.

When you had to rip open the box and pull out a card, write down all the numbers and names you could find, bicycle to a library with an empty floppy to find a manual, cajole their it admin to dial up a Usenet for some dip switch settings and possibly an ini and dll file, then bicycle back and continue the installation, error on the next card, repeat ad nauseam. XP was a dream compared to anything before that. I still remember the OEM iso key by muscle memory...

The all 1s method only works with older versions of windows 95 (OSR1 and before iirc) where the product key is in a XXX-XXXXXX format, so it would be 111-111111. OSR2 and later added the newer XXXXX-OEM-XXXXXX-XXXXX product key format, to prevent people from pirating windows that easily. Strangely though, 95 Plus and 98 Plus still use the older format, and I don't know why.

XXX-XXXXXXX is just the retail version you could buy in a store to install on your own computer. XXXXX-OEM-XXXXXX-XXXXX is just the OEM version that manufacturers would purchase to pre-install on their computers.

At my computer desk is the usual computer, monitor, mouse, and printer. But I have a TV too. So I hook the TV to the Computer graphics card, with a wireless HDMI receiver and transmitter combo. Over in the living room, where the TV is located, I also have my wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Thus tied to the one computer, are 2 keyboards and 2 mice. In turn I also have complete control of my computer ( WIN11 ) while I am comfortably lying on my couch.

A little while ago, I installed LineageOS on my Fire stick, then installed Termux and an X server, then installed Xfce and connected a keyboard and mouse to it. It was almost like a Linux desktop system, except horribly slow and overheating like crazy.

I think in retroarch its Scroll Lock button to turn game focus mode on. You currently have it off which is why when you press space the Fast Forward Icon shows in the top right, and why when you do certain things with the keyboard it doesn't do as expected. Press Scroll Lock and that should turn the mode on, and the keyboard should function as normal.
