Genuine question : do you think that when he said "i want them to know there are people out there who truly believe it isn’t your fault. And when ur ready, there is help out there, even for the worst cases". Someone couldn't read that and think that it's okay to take drugs because " it's not their fault" and that they can wait as long as they want before trying to stop and everything will be okay ? In my experience some addicts will try to find excuses anywhere to not stop.
@Banana2oo85 жыл бұрын
fyp You’re asking someone who just lost her sixth friend this year to a drug overdose. Literally today he overdosed. And I almost died quitting cold turkey. So do I think there’s a reason people continue the downward spiral? Yes. Because sometimes quitting can kill you.

@@Banana2oo8 I'm so sorry for your friend. I'm not sure you answered the question I might be struggling with the English. fyp I don’t think standing up for drug addicts by saying its a disease and not your fault will make ppl start or continue to use drugs. @fyp76155 жыл бұрын
@@morgan1740 I see. Maybe saying something more like : "There is no shame in struggling with addiction, you're not just weak. Know that some people believe in you. I had family pass from a drug overdose and family die from cancer. They are just as tragic as each other. Addiction is a cancer of the mind. You may go into remission, but there is always that chance that the “cancer” will come back. And absolutely it can be a genetic thing - some people are predisposed to addiction, and they don’t know until they are addicted to whatever substance they experiment with. People can be addicted to legal things - like eating, smoking, gambling, etc. It doesn’t just have to be illicit drugs. Some people (like myself with cigarettes) never experience the struggles of addiction (I quit cold turkey and never craved a cigarette thereafter). Others pick up a cigarette and that’s it-addicted. We need to be kind to each other. Life is hard and short. There is no reason for cruelty or a hardened heart with each other. I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s okay to seek help/treatment. It’s okay to talk to someone about it.

i wanted to comment this too so I checked and a couple people have! maintaining eye contact is generally aggressive for cats (though depending on the cat and your relationship to it that "aggression" can just be them annoyed that you haven't fed them yet) so they'll usually avert their gaze/watch out of the peripherals when theyre familiar with you, but its a whole nother level of trust to get the slow blink

Wow drew is the only youtuber I’ve ever heard describe depression accurately. That is very true what he said about not caring about anything enough to even be interested in watching a tv show. That’s so insanely accurate. I can’t manage to care about ANYTHING when I’m depressed. I can’t pay attention to the plot of a show or a movie, I can find anything interesting, nothing matters and nothing motivates me or excites me at all. That is serious depression when you’ve lost all motivation and interest in life

Addiction is 100% a disease. I have never used that as an excuse but, it is certainly a factor. Getting sober/clean requires lifelong treatment the same way an "accepted" disease does. Thank you for going out there and standing up for people who are struggling? 👊❤
@sarahl37215 жыл бұрын
I think the problem with what he say here is that addiction is presented a something the addict has no control over. For the majority of addicts who ultimately want to kick the addiction this is not a helpful way to think. Yes, guilt and shame are damaging emotions but equally so is telling someone they are powerless to affect change over their addiction because kicking drugs and staying clean 100% has to come from the power of the individual. Safe to say, sharing personal stories of addiction might be helpful to others but maybe save the inspirational talks etc to professionals and those with experience.

Sarah L you learn in na and aa you have to admit you’re powerless over your addiction, a big part of addiction is thinking “oh I won’t be the one that gets a heart attack, or loses my teeth, I’m indestructible, I’m in control”, but an addict is never in control and is powerless over their addictions. it’s not a bad thing to admit and say, it’s true, if we could control it we wouldn’t be addicts. we may be powerless over our addictions, but we have the power to fight for recovery and sobriety and help others fight and maintain theirs, and that’s ultimately what has helped people stay sober that successfully do.
@salemthecaaat5 жыл бұрын
Eli E it is true, your brain chemistry is permanently altered by drugs if you do them long enough, heavy chronic meth and heroin users most of the time will only see success with medicine, that’s why suboxone and methadone are so important, there are studies that show some anti-seizure medications help too. same with long term alcoholics. when someone is in and out of rehab and can’t get anything to stick, it’s probably because their brain chemistry has been so altered they need medical intervention to help them. I can’t remember the documentary but you can literally see how peoples brains are altered on MRIs and CT scans.
